I know what to do when you're sad and lonely,
I know what to do when you love her only.
I know what to do when no one needs you,
I know what to do you do voodoo. Voodoo.
You do voodoo.

I know what to do when the world decieves you,
I know what to do when no one needs you.
I know what to do when your whole heart breathes you,
I know what to do when your lover leaves you Voodoo.
You do voodoo.

If you're feeling sad and lonely,
There's a service I can render.
Tell the one who loves you, only,
I can be so warm and tender.

Call me.
Don't be afraid, you can
Call me.
Maybe it's late, but just
Call me.
Tell me and I'll be around.

Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon
Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon
We could float among the stars together, you and I
For we can fly we can fly
Up, up and away
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon

Please, BM, don't leave us hanging on lyrics like that.

Heh heh heh ... Kla2, you asked for it!

well I been seein' red and singing the blues far back as I can tell
til daisies came from heaven and decorate the gates of hell
you might b'lieve the world is sweet and fine as sugar candy
but I myself believe in whatever comes in handy

daisies up your butterfly, daisies up your butterfly
makes me up and wonder why, you got daisies up your butterfly

you're whistlin' past the graveyard, hopin' for the best
but a hum job back of K-Mart just might wreck that party dress
your poodle smokes, he'll probably choke and die in his own mink coat
your rainbow's bringing rain that's gunna sink your damn love boat

daisies up your butterfly, maybe maybe not
could be daisies up your butterfly or a bad day at Black Rock

Daisies Up Your Butterfly - The Cramps

That's better, BM65. But where do you find those bands? 9Probably listening to music made after 1980.

... I can see myself
Tearing up the road
Faster than any other boy has ever gone
And my skin is rough but my soul is ripe
And no ones gonna stop me now
I gotta make my escape
But I cant stop thinking of you
And I never see the sudden curve until its way too late
I never see the sudden curve until its way too late

Then Im dying on the bottom of a pit in the blazing sun
Torn and twisted at the foot of a burning bike
And I think somebody somewhere must be tolling a bell
And the last thing I see is my heart
Still beating
Breaking out of my body
And flying away
Like a bat out of hell ...

-Meatloaf, lyrics by Jim Steinman*

The Cramps debuted at CBGB's in 1976 or so. They're one of my favorites: really swampy rockabilly/blues/fuzz/what-have-you. Poison Ivy is a monster guitarist - I just love her playing. You can find their site here: http://www.thecramps.com/ and a friend of mine does this site: http://members.shaw.ca/thecramps/

You can check out his - Big John Bates - here: http://www.bigjohnbates.com/

Anyway ... here's one from Johnny himself!

I woke up this morning with a sprocket in my hand
strapped to a greasy hoist behind a taco stand
last night went on forever while I sucked back nitrous gas
lightning jolted thru my veins
smashed through every pane of glass
I smelled transmission oil
heard a screen door slam

the doctor looked like Spock
he walked outside
said "the differential connects into the spine"
I kicked him to the ground
man that nurse was stacked
we shared us an evil grin
and stole his Cadillac
I think I hear them call me Crankenstein

I'm a wrecker's nightmare, a little girl's dream
cops they brought the tiki torches
they're out looking for me
and they claim I'm mad - well, I'm mad!
baby shake that tail
"calling all cars - shoot to kill
don't put a creep like that in jail"
Oh I heard them calling
yeah, I heard them calling
I hear them calling me Crankenstein

Crankenstein - Big John Bates

P.S. - He's a Canadian, too!

Wow. Reminds me of why I started listining to classical music around 1980. Punk was bad, then it got ... worse.

AS I WAS MOTIVATING* OVER THE HILL
SAW MAYBELLINE IN A COUP DEVILLE
A CADILLAC ROLLING ON OLD GLEN ROAD
NOTHING OUT RUN MY V-8 FORD
A CADILLAC DOING ABOUT 95
IT WAS BUMPER TO BUMPER SIDE TO SIDE
-Chuck Berry; Maybelline

{*Motivating??? I always thought "motoring", Oh, well.}

It's "Motorvating" - Chuck Berry was well known for making up his own slang in his songs.

In my estimation, by the way, Chuck Berry would have been the real king of rock 'n' roll had he not been black or had society been less racist.

Berry, Bo Diddley, and Eddie Cochran are the big three for me, with Buddy Holly and a whole lot of others right behind them.

Anyway ...

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide ...

Danny Boy - as recorded by Link Wray, 1960

Link's another one who's up at the top of the list and sorely missed ...

Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?

Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?

Where have all the flowers gone?

Gone to young girls, every one!

When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone, long time passing?

Where have all the young girls gone, long time ago?

Where have all the young girls gone?

Gone to young men, every one!

When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone, long time passing?

Where have all the young men gone, long time ago?

Where have all the young men gone?

Gone to soldiers, every one!

When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

And where have all the soldiers gone, long time passing?

Where have all the soldiers gone, a long time ago?

Where have all the soldiers gone?

Gone to graveyards, every one!

When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

And where have all the graveyards gone, long time passing?

Where have all the graveyards gone, long time ago?

Where have all the graveyards gone?

Gone to flowers, every one!

When will they ever learn, oh when will they ever learn?

Pete Seeger (?)

A fitting song for remembrance day.

To all who have gone before.
To all who are there now.
To the hope of a future without. [-o<

To steal from another thread: Both your amps go up to 11? :D

On an Armistice Sunday note, at 11am I was standing staring out over the Firth of Forth, just out of sight of the old base of the Home Fleet, and just about where they assembled some of the Arctic Convoys.

Cool, Heid! I was in downtown Jackson, Michigan. Thrilling to see I could count the number of people with just my hands and feet. Grrr ...

And I don't put numbers on my amps, so they can go up to whatever number you can imagine! I know Enzo has rolled his eyes over this and the fact that I have ... erm ... imaginative names on my controls many times.

Now, back on topic:

Well you want
to be in the gang
and you've got
got to join the team
to be on the team
you must play to win
you play to win
you may not make it home

up the hill, down again
you're the one
every body wears a badge
uniform

soldier boys!
we've got plans for you
a brand new game
we call it "mass control"
when you grow up
it's not so obvious
dirt on your face
holding your broken toys

up the hill, down again
you're the one
everybody wears a badge
uniform

Soldier boy
Oh, my little soldier boy
I'll be true to you

You were my first love
And you'll be my last love
I will never make you blue
I'll be true to you
In the whole world
You can love but one girl
Let me be that one girl
For I'll be true to you ...

They met upon a blue moon,
And they parted on a cloudy day
They were so in love and out of school,
But he was goin' so far, far away.

She said: "I'll be true to you,
"Even though you don't want me to.
"And I'll be blue for you,
"Even though you've asked me not to."

Here I am again in this mean old town
And youre so far away from me
And where are you when the sun goes down
Youre so far away from me

So far away from me
So far I just cant see
So far away from me
Youre so far away from me

Im tired of being in love and being all alone
When youre so far away from me
Im tired of making out on the telephone
And youre so far away from me

So far away from me
So far I just cant see
So far away from me
Youre so far away from me

I get so tired when I have to explain
When youre so far away from me
See you been in the sun and Ive been in the rain
And youre so far away from me

So far away from me
So far I just cant see
So far away from me
Youre so far away from me

love, I don't like to see so much pain
so much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away
I get so tired of working so hard for out survival
I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive

and all my instincts, they return
and the grand facade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

in your eyes
the light the heat
in your eyes
I am complete
in your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
in your eyes
the resolution of all the fruitless searches
in your eyes
I see the light and the heat
in your eyes
oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light,
the heat I see in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes

These arms long to hold you again.

Talk to me, dont lie to me
Save your breath
Dont look at me, dont smile at me
Just close your eyes
I was so impressed by you
I was running blind
I would fall for every trick
Every twist of mind

Heaven is cold
Without any soul
Its hard to believe
I was so in love with you

Dont say your prayers, dont build your hopes
Just walk away
Dont phone me up, dont call around
Dont waste your time
You were so in awe of me
You were so divine
You would do just anything
To still be mine

Heaven is cold
Without any soul
Its hard to believe
I was so in love with you

All the things you said to me
I was so upset
You were always talking talking
God I did my best

Heaven is cold
Without any soul
Its hard to believe
I was so in love with you

Lou Bega's reworking of Perez Prado's 1949 hit, "Mambo No. 5".
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Mambo Number 5

One, two, three, four, five
Everybody in the car, so come on let's ride
To the liquor store around the corner
The boys said he want some gin and juice
But I really don't wanna
Get a buzz like I had last week
I must stay me cause talk is cheap
I like Angela, Pamela, Sandra, and Rita
And as they continue
You know they gettin' sweeter
So what can I do
I really thank you my Lord
To me flirting is just like a sport
Anything fly, it's all good
let me jump in and send in the trumpet

Chorus:
A little bit of Monica in my life
A little bit of Erica by my side
A little bit of Rita's all I need
A little bit of Tina is what I seek
A little bit of Sandra in the sun
A little bit of Mary all night long
A little bit of Jessica here I am
A little bit of you makes me your man

Mambo Number Five

Jump up and down
And move it all around
Shake your hand to the sound
Put your hands on the ground
Take one step left
And one step right
One to the front
And one to the side
Clap your hands once
And clap your hands twice
And if it looks like this
Then you're doing it right

Chorus

Trumpet
The trumpet
Mambo Number Five
Ha, ha, ha

Chorus

I'd do all to
Fall in love with a girl like you
Cause you can't run
And you can't hide
You and me gonna touch the sky

Mambo Number Five

Shortly after this song first came out, I went to a flea market with my wife. This song was playing on the speaker system. Two girls (11?12?) were lip-synching to it and doing a little dance together. When they got to the line "A little bit of Mary all night long" they looked at each other, eyes widened, covered their mouths and giggled.

It was so cute.
