556 is the sum of four consecutive prime numbers (131 + 137 + 139 + 149), but is never the sum of the proper divisors of any integer, making it an untouchable number.

The 577 t-rex is made by A-squared Rifles It is meant as a last resort rifle. This is meant to stop a charging pissed the hell off rhino or elephant. Other than that this rounds serves absolutely no useful purpose.

But 577 isn't ON yet! :glp-furious:

OK, so 557 is St. Louis' area code in the US.

And in 558 AD, Conall mac Comgaill becomes king of Dál Riata, a Gaelic overkingdom on the western coast of Scotland. And I tell you this just because I love those names so much.

Then, sir, you will be pleased to read that the year 559 CE saw the death of Curnán, son of Aodh, son of Eochaidh Tirmcarna. He was killed by Diarmaid son of Cearball while under the protection of Colm Cille. It was one of the causes of the Battle of Cúil Dremne, 4 years later.

Delicious. You'll have to read those names to me one time!

It bears mention that in the year 561, King Chlothar of France dies. His four sons, Charibert, Guntchram, Sigibert and Chilperich succeed him in four regions of France, laying the grounds for the later Merowingian fraternal war. Try imagining folks with these names actually geverning FRANCE, for chrissake.

Come on over! Heid can show you the sights of the lowlands (will take about 20 minutes), and I can take you round the nice places :) :-)

Anyway... The year 565 CE saw the first reported sighting of our old friend the Loch Ness Monster, it is commonly claimed. However, the beastie was described as being in the river, not the loch, and was one of several strange beasts that Colm Cille (St Columba, mentioned in my earlier entry!) was described as admonishing. Clearly an attempt by the writer, his hagiographer, to demonstrate to the Picts that look! our God and his buddies are able to command your old water spirit gods around!. The next reported sighting of the Loch Ness Monster was in 1933, in a known faked photograph in an attempt to defraud a newspaper. So, in the Scottish Highlands - where there is a tradition of water beasties, and old tales of them are well known in song and verse, there is absolutely nothing about a monster in Loch Ness. It is, in fact, noteworthy because of it. A chap from England was based in Inverness (at the top of Loch Ness) in the 1720's and he wrote home to a friend in London about his experiences and what the place was like. He was careful to relate many tales of witchcraft, folklore and weirdness from all over the Highlands... but what does he have to say about a monster in Loch Ness? Precisely nothing, and I know, because I've just finished reading all of his letters. Draw your own conclusions.....

Image

U-569 under attack, photographed from the rear seat of one of the two Grumman TBF Avengers that damaged it on the 22nd of May 1943. The damage was bad enough for it's captain, Oberleutnant zur See Hans Johannsen, to decide to scuttle it. He was taken prisoner, and on 12 February, 1944 he was one of five U-boat commanders to escape from the POW camp at Papago Park, Arizona.

572 is 15 closer to 577 than I was when I first made the mistake of using 577 out of sequence.
