What the movie didn't tell you is how those kids ended up. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Footloose was loosely based on events that happened during the late 70's in a small Oklahoma town. I don't recall if they ever say where, exactly, they are supposed to be in the movie, but some sources cite Iowa. At any rate, neither Iowa nor Oklahoma are home to the large mountains seen in the background of a few scenes in the movie.

I've been to the highest point in Oklahoma. If it weren't for the large granite marker, you'd need very sensitive survey equipment to locate it.

I believe the highest point in Iowa is at the end of a feeding trough on the Sterlers' farm.
