CIA was what triggered it. So I was basically standing on Lance's shoulders when I saw the solution.

Now the greatest film ignoramus this board has ever seen is responsible for TWO cinema threads at the same time. Oh dear.

Damn it! That's the one I was thinking of but I couldn't remember the name. I remembered bookish analyst uncovers plot of some kind and of course, Max von Sydow (love him!).

Nice job!

I watched that film with my parents on TV in the early 80s, and I was very probably below the age rating. But I remember well the utter suspense and the marvelous pacing, along with RR's acting, which was just superb.

I just checked the guide and it's not on anytime in the next 2 weeks but I'm going to keep an eye out for it. I haven't seen it for a while and it is worth watching again.

Violence & Gore

Frequent moderate gun violence, sometimes bloody. There are however stronger scenes of gore, including a character getting shot in the kneecap, a man getting stabbed in the hand with a pencil and a man having acid poured on him (not actually seen, but the body is flailing around)

Sex & Nudity

Men make several sexual comments about a woman's appearance.

Man talks to a woman about "jumping" him, and he wants to jump her. Nothing is shown except for a kiss.

A police officer visits a mobile-home brothel. Prostitutes shown in lingerie.

Profanity

One use of f*ck that is muted by a truck horn.

"G*ddamn," "Chr*st," and "J*sus Chr*st," are used throughout the film.

There is truck language in the film which is an expression for gross profanity (like shit, asshole, etc.)

I thought of one film with all of these ingredients, but the Parents' Guide doesn't match at all.
