Nothing to do with ozone. I wouldn't say it was environmental, certainly not in that way. It is natural, though.

Yes, a typo. Caused by poring over ledgers for far too long and my eyes don't focus any more.

Its probably only detected earth-quakes, assuming that earthquake detection technology has improved/grown over that time. Either that or the earth's getting more and more jittery.
