Enjoying this thread with great interest.

October 21 1805 Battle of Trafalgar. Where Horatio Nelson the 1st Duke of Bronté outnumbered, beat back a combined dreaded French and Spanish armada saving the shining shores of Albion (I'm learning) and dashing the plans of the French upstart Napoleon. Further demonstrating England as a ocean superpower to be reckoned with.

And not the French upstart, the Corsican upstart.

October 21st, 1097 - Godfrey, Bohemund, and and Raymond begin the siege of Antioch. The Crusader Army remained at Antioch for fifteen months, before moving on Jerusalem, when the rank-and-file mutinied and informed the leaders they were going to Jerusalem with or without them.

Great Britain, yes. Forgive me. :glp-1doh1: In my limited defense I thought he was quoted saying "England expects that every man will do his duty." What what I thought was the Flag of St. George flying on the stern of some depictions was actually the white ensign of the royal navy which includes the union jack. I stand corrected.

[tedious Dumfries aside]That would be the old church, the plaque commemorating it used to be where Greggs the Bakers is now. About 150m north is where I went to school.[/tedious Dumfries aside]
