It appears to me that there may be some people with various personal problems on the medium known as usenet. In comparison glp looks absolutely sane and credable. Just out of curiosity just how does team debunker go about debunking these individuals ?.

I'm not sure that many of us here that do go looking for woo woos do it for the sake of spreading knowledge. In my case, anyway, it's more like picking on the inferior, in which case GLP has a good enough supply to keep me happy.

I gave up on trying to do anything useful on usenet more than a decade ago.

A few still on Usenet. Not like it was ten years ago. Usenet is very anemic
right now, and it looks like it is getting worse. I happen to be privy to a
group of individuals who are disgusted with the new bunch in charge of
the Big 8, especially the approval recently of a stealth nazi group (under
the guise of a Viking style religion). They are also getting rid of groups
with little or no traffic, and the bar for "little" could go pretty high. A lot
of folks are taking a wait and see attitude, but most expect them to really
screw things up. The process needed changing, since it was taking almost
a year or more to get new groups approved, but the new cabal (T.I.N.C.)
might screw it up more. It's been rather confusing to follow, but some
of the folks on the email group I belong to have been on Usenet since
before The Great Renaming in 1987 and they seem to know what they
are talking about. I'll try to learn more and report back, if you guys
are interested.

alt.fan.art-bell used to be a target rich environment, now it is inhabited
by people more interested in being as verbally cruel to each other as
possible instead of pushing or debunking woo woo stuff. I spent ten
years on that group and in the last 6 months I have all but dropped
out. alt.astronomy is pretty kooky too, but groups like alt.paranomal
are pretty much finished. Gone are the days when Wollkook and Idiot
the Bruce attempted to take over the group. However, there will always
be a legacy of one very special kook. His name was Earl Curley and
he was voted Kook of the Century. Every June 26th we celebrate his
prompting of the general acceptance of the term "sockpuppet" due to
his proclivity of using them. The day is known on Usenet as Kook's Day.
Earl drank himself to death on that day back in 1998 and in spite of
his claim to be the greatest Canadian psychic of that time he failed
to foresee his own death.

I guess. I met someone with an interesting theory on the lack of rain in some areas. They said drought is god's wrath !. Since moving I haven't met any of the local woowoos but... I'm not sure I really want to.
