So, anyway, back to the original topic.

My point is simply this. No, it is not just me who is taking Britney Spears lip syncing way out of bounds and over the top.

Brazil is a country where the rich are as rich as the richest of Europe and the poor are as poor as the poorest of Africa. This great expanse between the "haves" and the "have-nots" causes lots of social problems including the attraction to socialism and communism. It creates national image problems in ways that we in the United States cannot really imagine.

So throwing the world's largest music concert MEANS something to Brazilians in ways that go far beyond a little meaningless party as it would in the United States. It deas with a natinal image on a global stage.

To Brazilians, pulling this show off shows the world that they are up-and-coming and that they are a major player or are going to be one. Just as when a Brazilian was launched into space and was a member of the crew of the International Space Station last year -- Brazilians sang and danced and cried when it happened.

For Spears to come out and fake her performance it was an insult. She would have been better received if she had either defecated on stage, killed and drank the blood of a puppy, or auctioned off her kids.

She was booed off stage.

To this day the Brazilians talk about her as if she was the biggest looser ever to walk on earth. Yes, even more than I am. (a preemptive response)

Now, the shock people on this forum express at my distain for her is a whole different issue. It shows that you have fallen into the spell of her marketers. You have been brainwashed. And this is where the Frank Frazetta image came from.

That does not make any sense. If you were more world-traveled and if your eyes and mind were more open then you would see things in a better way and how they really are. Being comfortable in your middle-america shell is nothing to be proud of. Being comfortable thinking that Ms. Spears is good and entertaining and does no wrong to the image of and for young women is choosing to be ignorant. Not caring how she presents herself as an ambassator to the world from the United States is only admitting you are both unknowing and uncaring. This is not even an argument to side with from where you stand.

I've lived in Korea, in Germany (going back there soon, to learn German and go through the Heidelburg University for the rest of my education, potentially), and have only been in the States for a few years out of my 22 years of life.

The world isn't Brazil. Nor is it America. And nor do I really give a shit about what people think of Britney Spears. She's a song artist, she's not Hitler. When she becomes Hitler, I'll worry.

You can just as easily say that each country is just as important as the other and take the stance that what happens in Brazil influences other countries, because it does. If large parts of the world do not want to support or deal with us for some reason, it impacts us. It does not matter if we are aware of it or not.
