Isn't that also the name of the kid in Home Alone? I wondered if your man was related to Carlos MacAllister, former Argentina international. He is, that's his dad. His brother Alexis currently plays for Liverpool (and Argentina) apparently.

Meanwhile, Hertha were away to the last of the table, and lo and behold,

SSV Regensburg 2 - 0 Hertha BSC

Played 117, won 51, drawn 27, lost 39.

Ooft. It's the IRU MacDerby tomorrow too, so no scope for much progress. Also, we should present Heid with the MacDerby trophy just now to save time. 5-0 to his lot is my prediction.

Meanwhile, a bit of a nice surprise:

SC Paderbron 1 - 2 SpVgg Greuther Fürth

Yes, it was against 10 men after min. 25, but away to a team placed far above in the table, no less. We are back in 14th now, 2 points and two slots below Auld Auntie.

Good luck to all of you in the IrU Scottish derby. Just don't draw it, please.

Played 118, won 52, drawn 27, lost 39.

SpVgg Greuther Fürth 2 - 1 SVV Regensburg

So at least one IrU team can still win against the bottom-of-the-table team. Whoohoo

Played 121, won 54, drawn 27, lost 40.

Hertha at home to newly-awakened Jurassic giant Kaiserslautern tonight. I have a very bad feeling about this.

Hertz 1 - 3 Rangers. Two own goals by the same player, which was nice.

Played 126, won 55, drawn 27, lost 44.

The BBC has thoughts about Bundesliga 2.

... and hardly surprisingly, Hertha.have sacked the manager. Building it up from below is all very nice and shiny, but the fact remains we still have the second most expensive cadre in the League, so being 13th, losing four in a row and looking down, not up, maybe is a slight bit of underperformance. Ach, Auld Auntie, have you been fondling the Beefeater a bit too mich lately? Again?

Is anyone taking me up on the bet that the next coach will be one Pál Dárdai?

Apparently, I was a bit overconfident, and Pál wasn't really on the menu.

Our new manager is Stefan Leitl, which seems to be a reaonable choice. He was the guy who brought SpVgg Greuther Fürth into the Bundesliga in 2021. He left, of his own accord, when Greuther produced the worst Bundesliga season of any club, ever, ever, even underpassing legends like Tasmania Berlin and Borussia Neunkirchen. You all rememeber my emotional distress from that time. He since went on to Hannover, whom he led to 6th and 7th place in 2023 and 24, before being sacked after the first half of this season - in 6th place, two points below the promotion playoff spot. Hannover wanted more than that, and have since worked their way into 8th place, 5 points below the promotion playoff spot. Oh well, that might just turn out to be Auld Auntie's lucky day.

WWIII on ice coming Thursday. Though probably less than 3 fights in the first 10 seconds this time.
With all the annexation talk I think there might be guys who would be ready to pay the ultimate price out there.
Certainly will be the biggest hockey game this country has played since the Canada - Russia Summit final in '72. Maybe bigger.

I get this cognitive dissonance where on the one hand, Canadians have this reputation for being very, very polite people (to the point of constantly apologizing for their own existence), on the other hand, this seems to be completely suspendended when it comes to ice hockey.

And of course, thrash them, Canada! Thrash them with a big thrashy thing. Not one filthy American boot on holy Canadian soil, ever! Err, wait a minute.
