Modern Scotland

I was at a bar in the East End of Glasgow with gender neutral toilets, all with free sanitary products, and on the menu was vegan pizza crunch. This is not the city I was born in, which is a good thing.

I like the stiff-upper-lip way with which Wikipedia describes this abomination, "... resulting in a different nutritional and flavor profile". Different indeed.

Did I mention I love Glasgow? I've been there three times only, in the 80s and the oughts, and only for a few days each, but I loved it in both eras, and I will love it as long as they don't take the traffic cone off Wellington's head.

Yes, Glasgow has a definite vibe. So has Edinburgh, but it's a very different one. But I agree with Heid - good to see how Glasgow has changed. On my last trip, with the Missus, we wandered into a pub for a drink. Now OK, this was our fault. We could have gone to Waxy O'Connor's near Queen Street station, which would have met our needs, although it wouldn't have been as convenient for Central (we were heading for Prestwick). But instead we went into a pub that looked as though it would have more character. Which it did. You could barely make out the bar for cigarette smoke and the reaction of the customer made clear that the Missus was the first woman who had ever gone in there - ever.

Times indeed change.

I've never heard of that, but now I MUST have it!
