Blue jeans, well roll 'em up...

Postby pmcolt » Fri May 05, 2006 4:47 pm

Blue jeans,
Well roll 'em up and wade through the water
Like we're sixteen and we ain't got nothing else to do,
Let's go, let's go live a page from a Mark Twain novel
Let some southern comfort sink in,

There's nothing like knee-high summer time green grass
Barefoot laying back dreamin',
Nothing like a lazy Sunday, baby,
Warm breeze, porch swing swinging',
You and me, sippin' sweet tea
In the wild blue country...

*sigh* Oh, Lila. Why can't you get any radio airplay? Or get your next CD out?

Just three more days. Monday I'll take my final exams (ugh! my diff.eq final is 40% of my final grade) and then I'm free for the summer. Summertime! Woo-hoo!

Argh.

Well, on the plus side, I passed my nuclear engineering course with a B+. Considering what a slacker I am, that's pretty good. Sure, I won't be getting into grad school anytime soon with that grade, but...

And, on the minus side, I'm not very confident in my differential equations grade. Despite having sat down during the weekend and worked sample problems from every chapter, I completely forgot everything the instant pen hit paper.

Used the entire three hours given and didn't finish. Though I did spend the final ten minutes doing nothing but hand-calculating best- and worst-case scenarios for my final grade. Worst-case: F. Best-case: C. The fact that the exam is 40% of the final grade leads to the wide spread.

Yeah, I'm sure everyone really cares.

So, Lonewulf, your last final is today, right? What subject? Good luck with it.

Algebra 2. I'm almost finished with Algebra... IF I pass. Since it's a remedial course, as long as I pass, I'm good. Unfortunately, I'm not so sure if I'll pass. :/

I'm sure I passed with an A or B+ in English and History, though, so that's good. I'm not so sure I did well in World Geography, though. x.x

If it makes you feel any better, when I took partial differential equations, someone received a 1/100 on the final exam...

It doesn't really. I keep thinking about the old "Don't be that guy" picture, with a grade distribution report showing a class with all A's except for one F. Then again, there always seem to be a handful of people in every class who don't even show up for the final.

But, I just checked and apparently I came out with a C+. Not pretty, but I'll take it.

Jeez I schlepped through business college on the deans list 4x and graduated with honors.
Of course it was just accounting and NOT nuclear physicist stuff. I think my head would spontaniously combust if I had to work the equations you guys talk about.
In my hands I hold a candle whose flame is small to see, And if I give but one light to you my life is filled for me.
But...In your hands you hold a torch for many eyes to see, So hold it high that they may light their candlewicks from thee.

See, teri, that's the problem, your head wouldn't combust, it would fission. Nuclear physics is different than real life.

I took a course in Fortran around 1965, and they were so committed to grading on the curve that with the very large number of kids taking the class they arbitrarily assigned students with the SAME SCORE to either B or C grades - or maybe it was B- and C+. If they had given all those kids the same grade, their curve would have been skewed. All I recall was we had to look up which group we were in. DIdn't seem very fair to me. You don't get the B because your name is in the lower half of the alphabet. I hope they have changed their methods since.

I hope our school age members don't face such baloney. Best of luck to you all.

What a screwed up grading system! I would have been pissed, way down in the Ts at the low end of the scale.
I like the thought of a nuclear fission instead of mere spontanious combustion. It does sound like a smarter more efficient and clean way to a fiery head explosion.

Dunno, but it seems like that I made a C throughout the course. As well as an A in English Composition II (which I saw coming)

The C I'm not worried about. Doesn't affect my GPA, since it's a remedial course. I'm just glad it's not a D, or it wouldn't count.

Now I'm level 3 in math skills, and can take college mathematics! WOOHOO!

I'm more likely to fall under the category of con-fusion...

I thought it was where you mash two petty criminals together, and they form one felon.

So, would the opposite of con-fusion be pro-fusion? And just who would be against fusion, anyway? Togetherness, man!

Fuck, got a B in History. That's gonna take me off the President's List.

I don't necessarily mind, but jeesh. History? I was *certain* I was going to get an A in the course. Oh well.

I hope Geography doesn't drag me down too much now.

Hey Lonewulf! A B is still pretty good, so maybe you miss the Deans list once but there's always next semester. Are you taking any summer classes.

Yeah. Country Western Dancing.

Might as well learn how to dance, and it's good exercise.
