Happy Birthday IRU?

Postby Мастер » Fri May 12, 2006 1:53 pm

If I may make the bold leap and assume that the registration date of the first user marks the date of creation of the forum, then today marks one year of successful operation for IRU?

Any Kiwis out there missed it :P

Hey Cool!!! The IRU's first birthday!!! Where's Lance, shouldn't he be giving a speech or something?

DRINKS ARE ON THE HOUSE!!!
(Just tell 'em the minion said put it on the Lance's tab)
In my hands I hold a candle whose flame is small to see, And if I give but one light to you my life is filled for me.
But...In your hands you hold a torch for many eyes to see, So hold it high that they may light their candlewicks from thee.

Actually, that's not true, since one year ago today is one year ago today no matter where you are. ;)

Fair enough, but was it May 12 or 13 in New Zealand when the forum started ;) ;)

Depending on the hour of the day, it was probably May 13th. I'm good at this you see, because I declared my love for my husband on April 19th for me and April 20th for me. And we base our celebration of that on how long it takes the Earth to get round the sun, rather than the actual calendar date. ;)

Well, I know people who have moved from one part of the world to the other, and felt the urge to change their birthdays as a result. That seems going a bit far to me...

I agree. I know that people wishing me well on my birthday will be a day late once I'm down under, but I happily take well wishes whenever I get them. I'm sticking with the legal record on that one though. :D

Where will you be in Australia? I get the impression you're not native, is that correct? I just got invited to an event in Canberra, but I don't know if I can make it. I may go to Sydney in December, but I've been there quite a bit...

Edit - obviously the answer to the second question is that it is correct, or the previous post makes no sense... :glp-1doh1:

ROFL No - I'm not a native of Australia. I am a native of the U.S. I will be in Melbourne. Is that anywhere near Canberra? Sydney's a bit of a hike.

And since my husband's birthday is two days after mine, we get to party the whole time. :D

Never been to Melbourne (or Canberra). Have been to Sydney quite a bit. Canberra looks closer to Sydney than to Melbourne.

Isn't celebrating birthdays the same as celebrating entropy?

I mean, all it does is celebrate the age of something; and "eventually", everything dies. Each new year is another step towards entropy.

MAN, you guys are morbid.

Yup. I plan on introducing my husband to that song by Toby Keith - "Let's Talk About Me" any day now.

Yup, that's what I use too. There's VB6 in my Hangman and Assassins utility applications. Good stuff.

*takes a swig*

Funny actually I realize this is a bit O/T but speaking of software you can drink, this one time in a restaurant I was at the soda fountain and quickly glanced at the Mr. Pibb... I swear I thought it said phpBB. You can tell where my mind was. :P

Vegemite is so gross. I hate it. It's disgusting. Blech. And the idea of it with beer? Well, if I ever need to get something poisonous out of my system and I don't have any syrup of Ipecac handy, that's what I'll do instead.
