BBC Program (Dr Plait meets Dr Cox)

Dr Plait meets Dr Cox!

The Bad Astronomer wrote:I am in Los Angeles right now, prepping to do an interview for a BBC program about the Deep Impact probe. The show will be live on the 4th, with some segments (like mine) pre-taped. We'll be discussing comets in movies, including, duh, "Deep Impact".

I'll have more info later after the shoot, and I'll post here and on my blog.

The show is hosted by Dr. Brian Cox, and yes, the irony of this is not lost on me.

Wow, two of my favorite men! You know, I do have that day off. :-k

I posted this on my Deep Impact thread, too.

Here's more information on the BBC program.

Comet Impact

As America celebrates its independence day with fireworks this July 4th, an even more exciting event will be taking place much further overhead, as scientists prepare to crash a spacecraft into a comet to unlock its secrets. Join Lucie Green and Brian Cox at 11.45 am on BBC ONE and 8.00 pm on BBC TWO for your front-row seat.

I wonder if they will actually get to meet. I remember Brian saying he would be in NYC on the Fourth of July. :-k

I find this extremely humorous for some reason. I just wish I could ... :)

The BA has to know I am dying not being able to post a comment on the BABB about this strange coincidence. Could I have brought the two boys together by introducing the Who Is Dr Brian Cox thread? Neither had heard of each other prior to me. :-k

Now, if there is any truth to the above, then that certainly deserves an unbanning. [-o<

You're preaching to the choir here, Candy. There is only one person with whom that power lies.

I'm just so not good with words. I'm scared to ask him for forgiveness. I'm not used to doing anything wrong, so I've not a clue on how to mend it... now that I have. He saw me, well everyone saw me, at a really weak moment in my not-so-happy moment in life. I'm trying to do the mind over matter thing, which is slowly working. I'm just a bundle of nerves right now, well, for the past few months.

Dr. Cox is very popular with people in the United States this morning. It's so good to know people are so enthused about physics, and the current projects he's involved in. It really shows that curious minds can lead to great discoveries. :D

I think I saw Dr. Cox on a BBC program call End Day. It was a series of scenarios of major disasters. He was doing an interview about a particle called a strangelet. A few minutes later a particle accelerator in the US accidentally created one and it ate the earth.

After I started the now moved thread on the BABB, Dr Brian Cox's homepage was the number one hit webpage in the UK. I read that on some blog. Dr Cox fascinates me with his intelligence, looks, and style. I've never seen anyone like him before in the Science area. He totally captivated me with the programs I saw on the Discovery Channel. I can't find the links now. I 'predict' he will be a very famous man in the near future. I'm just glad I got to meet him. 8)

I have the first program recorded and the second one due to record later today, but they are on a Sky + box (Tivo type thingy) and I don't have video input on my PC so I'm a bit stuck! (They would need to be converted from PAL to NTSC for US viewers)
Anybody out there got a digital version? :?:

The bundle-of-nerves feeling will pass. As long as you're feeling that way, things will seem strange, which could be why it's so hard to ask now.

I hope you get feeling less nervous soon. :) When you do, that's probably a good time to go for it. I wish I could be of more help as far as what to say, but like you I'm not used to having done anything wrong so any suggestions I could offer would be a guess based on my own perspective.

Wow, thank you for understanding. Seriously, I just keep doing bad things lately, and I don't understand it, or why I am doing it. My boss has so many things now in my permanent file at work, that I will never advance for two years. I think I will take this time to get my Masters. My boss absolutely hates my getting my Bachelors and continuing with school, so I have to keep it a secret at work. I just don't understand the recent events, though. I really don't. :?
