It seemed a good idea at the time . . .

The Tour de France starts in London this year, handy for both the law courts and major pharmaceutical companies. The week before there is a randonnée [strike](if any mod knows how to put an acute above the first "e" I would be obliged)[/strike] essentially a closed road ride over the 120 mile course for a limited number of participants.

I talked to my brother about whether we could be arsed trailing down to London, it will be a great day, but at the cost of several days travelling and transporting bikes etc. We decided against it and despite our apathy the 5000 places went in under 24 hours. About a month ago Mrs B saw a competition in a newspaper for entry, easy question, name in a hat, you know how it goes. Today my name came out the hat and I'm in the ride.

So, it's too good not to do it despite the logistics. The main problem is the month delay in me finding out as I really am not as fit as I should be. My training plan consists of:
1) Build time machine
2) Start training in January

Any help with stage 1. would be greatly appreciated.

Well, Heid, the Michikids are workign on the time machine for our own purposes. We'll be happy to let you take a spin or two when we have it completed.

So far, our reseach had garnered the nesessity of the fingers of a chicken and a kitten's fifth leg.

We're still working on the mechanics of this.

LOL, it would be tempting to answer that ad! Or perchance was it run in yesterday's paper? Hmmm.... *scratches chin* Hey anyone besides me notice that the phone number is a plaindrome? I suspect his time machine involves a 10-key and RJ11 cables. :P

Thanks umop, I'll practice later.

We have to track Bob Howe down and get him on the board, and not just to help with my training.

Edit spellybad. Olé, yep got that working.

I can tell you right now, that time machine is going to need more jiggawatts.

I didn't notice the palindrome, but considering that he requires you to bring your own weapons, it's pretty convenient that Peterborough Gun Shop's ad was right above it.

Plaindrome? As opposed to a fancydrome?

Or did you mean one of these:

Darn ocelot stole Conrad.

My favorite has always been:

A man, a plan, a canal: Panama.
No trees were killed in the posting of this message.
However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
