A few years ago, Ireland were defeating New Zealand. Things are a bit different now.

So Sunday we see whether Scotland can defeat a COVID-crippled French team.

That game is postponed to some point in the future, there is no easy place to put it though.

Ah, missed that announcement. I saw something the other day that said it was going ahead.

But, in 2020, the rescheduled matches were held in October :)

It could turn out that it will have no relevance to the outcome of the tournament, but France are doing well, and Scotland are doing alright, so this match could actually matter.

France wanted to play it next weekend but that isn't an official international weekend so Scotland wouldn't have any of their players who played in France or England. Scotland wanted it after the rest of the tournament but the French league is back playing then.

Shouldn’t it just be tough shit on France, and either award the points to Scotland with a token score (they use 3-0 in football) or have them put out whatever team they can?

Yes, it should be 28 - 0, a bonus point win, but money talks.

That’s what they did in the “Autumn Nations” tournament, Fiji lost 100% of their group-stage matches 28-0.

But for last year’s Six Nations, they postponed the matches from March to October. But in that situation, all teams had a match postponed (and Ireland and Italy had two postponed).

We don’t have a game this weekend, our putative opponent is in the wee cup final. County have yet another important game, a win and they start to get clear water between them and the relegation fight.

Bad news at the Southern front:

Hannover 96 2 - 2- SpVgg Greuther Fürth

Mental note: If Fürth don't fürth, just wait for the next weekend. Holstein and Bochum have already won, Hamburg is the heavy favourite in the local derby against St. Pauli.

Hertha in for another pummelling, this time at the hands of third-placed Wolfsburg

VfL Wolfsburg 2 - 0 Hertha BSC

Valiant but inept attempts at getting the equalizer, penalty denied, etc. Decider in the 86th - the ususal Hertha shit, but it wasn't a pummelling at least. Next games are heavy with big guns, I can't see us improving. Luckily, the few competitiros we still have all lost.

Played 132, won 66, drawn 27, lost 39 (that includes Greuther)

Beaten 1-0 by St Mirren. Or, more accurately, by a crap referee and a ridiculous penalty.

Played 133, won 66, drawn 27, lost 40.

Six Nations analysis

Italy are out. At this point, any of the other five teams can still win.

However, the very next match is Italy v Wales. If Wales win, both Ireland and England are out. Only France and Scotland (which each have three matches remaining, not two) could dethrone Wales, and everything would have to go almost perfectly for Scotland.

The very next match is England v France. If Wales win with the bonus point, and France lose without, then the best France could hope to do would be to tie Wales in table points, and win on the point spread.

The very last scheduled match is France v Wales, and that could be the decider. Or the COVID-postponed France v Scotland.

Livingstonians Athletic 0 - 1 Rangers

Slightly fortunate late goal but we were the better team. Closing in rapidly on winning the league, then it is just the Europa League left.

Played 134, won 67, drawn 27, lost 40.

Big weekend, a Rangers win and we’ll possibly win the league this weekend. RCC have a relegation six pointer at home to Kilmarnock

SpVgg Greuther Fürth 1 - 2 Bochum

Lost to the better team, by way of a too-obvious penalty midway into the second half. Honestly, I am not sure we belong up there. Last time (I think in 2012 or so) we went up for a year, fielded a substandard team whose salaries didn'T break the bank, extended the arena and enjoyed 17 home matches in front of packed stands, only to be relegated after a season, fnishing last. Afterwards, we avoided going broke, crashing through to the fourth league or becoming a gold mine for overaged, overpaid former internationals making large promises of bringing us back up in a snap. In stead, we resumed our life in mid-table mediocritiy, going to and fro between 15th and 5th. All the while, we were chortling with glee every day watching the continuing trainwreck that is the 1st FC Nuremberg, swishing by us between catastrophy and hollow triumph, and always just that side of bancruptcy. Maybe it's better our way.

Hertha already one down at half-time.

Played 135, won 67, drawn 27, lost 41.

Hertha BSC 2 - 1 FC Augsburg

I didn't know we could still do this: Turn a game around, AND force a late penalty for us. It's probably because Pál Dárdai IS God after all.

Played 136, won 68, drawn 27, lost 41, back at fifty. Your move, Scotland!
