Heart of Midlothian Football Club are in serious trouble with the UK taxman.

Or Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs, to give him his Sunday name.

(I didn't get it for a good few seconds either, I thought it might be something to do with ground sharing with a rugby team or something  )

I did wonder if the references were a bit impenetrable.

Germany -v- Netherlands tonight, should be good.

Actually a taxlady these days. One with a stunning record of incompetence, but that won't surprise you.

I know, I know. I just thought that since somebody was going to throw in something from page 1 of the Big Book Of Sexist Jokes, it might as well be me.

I hope it doesn't go to penalties - none of them will be able to kick the ball hard enough to reach the goals*.

The Cloggies could have nicked that at the end, but nothing each. No shirts swapped.

Ra-Hmm.

In still other news, Asafa Powell, Tyson Gay ans Sherone Simpson have tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. My, aren't we lucky that the current WR holder and Überchanpion isn't one of those three losers but Usain Bolt, who did it all just with talent, diet and exercise? Phew!

Yes, they scored the third goal just after I posted and I couldn't be bothered changing it.

The only surprising thing is that they were tested at all.

I'd like to have seen the consternation when they were handed the test vials...

They probably thought they would be alright, either the test for it has changed or their screening agent didn't work. Neither country has been particularly enthusiastic before about testing so maybe they were simply caught out.

Anyone else think Bolt will develop a nagging injury, never quite recover and move swiftly into the media?

I was at the Olympics last year and saw the 4x100m relay, those guys were jawdroppingly fast. Which I know is a stupid thing to say but they were way faster than any rugby/NFL/other sportsman I have seen.

Shock loss for Germany last night, they now play Italy. Amusingly the Dutch lost to Iceland. We can only hope that Eng-ger-lund go out as well by losing tonight.

Who are Englandistan playing? I may already have the appropriate shirt to wear, although I suppose I'll have to shove a couple of oranges up it for this match.

We must support the Auld Alliance whenever possible, and a couple of onions might be more appropriate.

I've always been an enthusiastic advocate of the Auld Alliance, and onions it is. Vive la France!

(Edited after checking TV schedules - Looks like I'm going to miss most of it, as I''m off to a private viewing of some fancy new stuff at the Inverness museum tonight)

Well, they are sportswomen, so I'd guess "les" is most certainly correct.
