Wales lead 2 - 1

OK, the man who scored it is an Englishman with a Welsh grandmother, but that was so fucking superb, I'll root for Wales. Also, Belgium has shitloads of Chelsea and ManCity players, so fuck them. Even if they also have Marc Wilmots, of Eurofighter fame.

And Wales are the underdogs.

Wales lead 3 - 1

Belgians probably thought Wales would politely pass on any opportunities to attack.

I counted two denied penalties for Belgium between the Welsh goals.

Wales are very lucky the referee is fucking useless. They should have had a man sent off, Belgium should have had at least one penalty. Pah. The people who shag sheep with a fucking daffodil sticking out of their arse are through to the semis. Boo, hiss, etc.

Wales 3 - 1 Belgium.

And don't we all want them to remove the Dirty Diving Dagos from this tournament?

Ze Tsherrmanns against their Angstgegner tomorrow. My wife told me she thinks about relegating me to a pub...

Best of luck against those pasta munching ponces. I know they're your bogey team.

Everyone's writing how this time, Germany won't fail. As they did last time.

Meanwhile, Der Spiegel called Chiellini and Bonucci "The Two Towers". How apt, while Thomas Müller, in an interview, said that he didn't think of the Italians as evil - in fact they were the nicest and politest sportsmen he ever encountered, tough on the pitch, but quick with a smile and handshake. How can he do that to me?

Mind games, to put the pasta munching ponces off their game.

Watching the game tonight - best of luck against your Angstgegner. You're right, it's a wonderful word.

I am so tired!

Germany 1 - 1 Italy; Germany win on penalties, 6-5 , after 18! shots. We squandered three, they, four.

The missus was about to leave several times, but then didn't manage to because she couldn't avert her eyes. The little son woke up in her arms once or twice, and the girl wouldn't touch me. But all is good now...

My Scottish friend may forgive me, I am currently haveing a large dram from my 17-yo Hibiki, a very, very fine drink, and the name means harmony. This evening means a lot to me, perchè il malo non vince sempre (of course, the Italians were exemplary tonight, nothing malo about them).

I wonder what you think, in my opinion this was far and away the best match of the tournament.

Played 175, won 90, drawn 28, lost 57

Can we all agree that this season has at most two games to go and will end when 'schland lose to the Surrender Monkeys or beat the Leek Fondlers/Dirty Diving Dagos? I'm surprised we did as well as we have.

Then the new season kicks off with the first Hertha euro-qualifier (or whatever comes first)? Teams to be included are Hertha, The Staggies, 'Gers, Fürth plus whoever Richard A supports.

Heid's predictions:
Hertha will finish somewhere in the Bundesliga, probably between 4th and last, not do much in Europe.
Ross County will finish 6-8th and not win a cup
Rangers will finish 3rd and win the League Cup
Fürth will flirt with promotion and fall away to 7th
Richard A's brave lads will have a run in the Cup, go out in the quarters and finish 9th in the league.
Get it up ye.

On a quick check I think the first games of the new season will be on 16th July when Rangers play Motherwell and County play Montrose in the newly tarted up League Cup with extra games and specially diluted content.
Get it up ye.

I fully agree, and I think most of the predictions are fairly plausible. It is ENTIRELY plausible to give Hertha a wide range that includes 18th.

I don't remember Richard A supporting any particular sporting team except, well, England (there's a story here about a match watched in a crowded pub North of London). I do recall I was miffed with him when he admitted to supporting ManU over Bayern in The Match That Shall Not Further Be Mentioned.

I was toying with predicting they would somehow end the season playing in Bundesliga 2 or in the Brandenburg Under 13 Girls League but I thought that was beyond even Hertha. But still more likely than finishing in the top three. :D

They might do that if if DFB let them.

What a terribly unworthy finalist. I hope we get there in order to give them a right royal beating.

My assessment, exactly. DDDs have a thorny defense just as the Italians do, but I am still relatively confident about them. France is a different matter. They impressed against Iceland, but I am not sure if the fact that they didn'T really have a strong opposition so far will help them.

Grande merde.

Krauts 0 - 2 Frogs

No chance if you do the scoring for the other guys.

And that ends our count for this season:
