Scotland 3 - 3 Argentina, women's World Cup

Shit. Why o why is there a VAR to give the Argentinas a penalty 6 min into overtime?

Played 203, won 98, lost 54, drawn 51
Seven over

Germany 3 - 0 Nigeria, ladies' footie

Germany enter the quarterfinals with no couter-goals, and nine nil up, but that is still a lot less than the fearsome Merkins who are about 18 for zero not out.

Played 205, won 100, lost 54, drawn 51
Five over

Just watching ladies' footie, Awstarawlia vs. Norway, and it's easily the best game in that sport I've ever seen. 1 all at the exxtra time interval, Aussies one down for an emergency break type foul a few min ago. Loads of drama.

And Norway win on penalties, ab it too easy (4-1) considering that the game was well balanced between the two team.

All in all, a very bice way to spennd the evening. Great refereeing, too, from a German named al-Hussein.

Austria 1 - 1 Germany, at young'uns' footie

Played 206, won 100, lost 54, drawn 52
Six over par

Germany win their group and proceed to the semis. Perhaps importantly, they also buy a ticket for the next Olympic tournament. Austria were better, our goalie had to do four very strong saves. And thee draw finally wrecks the count: Even if our ladies AND the youngsters win their respective tournaments, we'll be one over par in the end.

I think the Finals of the Women's footie is on the 7th so yeah. But I seem to remember that at the end of 17 we had two seasons overlapping.

I am currently watching two livestreams at the same atime AND posting to IRU. SWE-CAN in the ladies', FRA-ROM in the U21 championships. Call me decadent, but this is important. Both matches determine the next fixture for our German boys and girls. The 650 ml bottle of beer is ENTIRELY co-incidental.

Also, I am on a VPN to circumvent geoblocking. De rigeur.

OK, so

Romania 0 - 0 France --> Romania win the group and play our boys in the semifinal on Thursaday at 6 CEST
Sweden 1 - 0 Oh Canada. Sweden advance to the quarterfinals and play our girlz on Saturday at 6:30 CEST

Funny how 650 ml of beer can evaporate so rapidly.

Provisions have been made for tonight... :D

Germany 1 - 2 down against Romania at the half, and not looking strong. It's 40 °C in the stadium, so it's tough. But a stupid penalty and a stupid pass in midfield are enough to give Romania the edge. They are formidable.

Wow
Germany 4 - 2 Romania

An early penalty for the equalizer, than two late free kicks from 20 m. No discussions about any of the referee decisions, and our boys were stronger throughout the second half.

Played 207, won 101, lost 54, drawn 52
Five over par

End result, Spain 4 - 1 France.

Same Final as two years ago, in my book Spain are a heavy favourite.

Meanwhile in France, England sunk Norway, 3 - 0

The top fixture is France vs. USA tomorrow, the match everyone wanted to see as the Final.

IF (big if) our 11 Valkyries beat Sweden on Saturday, their semifinal opposition would be either Italy or the Netherlands, which seems a lot more doable than either England, France, or the USA. It was England who beat us four years ago in the semi, IIRC.

Big, big BIG deal for Hertha.

A German investor who was hailed as a business whiz kid in the 90s when he started building and selling computers at 14, is buying a 37.5% share of Hertha's professional football company. He is set to up his participation to 49.9% (the current maximum by German Football League regulations) within the next few years. The deal will be worth € 125 million, twice.

The guy has a checkered past, first being shown around by Chancellor Kohl in his whiz kid years, then bancrupting when the dotcom bubble burst around the turn of the millenium, being sentenced for embezzlement and producing a further bancruptcy in the financial crisis in '09. He is back in business today, he says.

He says his investment in Hertha is the logical thing to do because Hertha is undervlued and has the potential to become one of the Big City Clubs, as he put it, in a League with London, Madrid, Milan, Rome, etc. CL semifinals, at least, within the next 5 years, I'd say. Knowing my Hertha, I am elated. What could possibly go wrong here?

France 1 - 2 USA, women's footie

France weaker than I thought they would be, USAnot quite as strong. Megan I'm not going to the fucking White House Rapinoe with two strong goals and exemplary professionalism. So, England vs. the US it is in the semi on Tuesday. I think the US are heavy favourites to to win this game and the next, but then everyone who's competent seems to think so, too.
