Ireland has the dishonour of being the only team that has failed to beat France (draw).

He's very reliable that way.

It was very pleasing for those of us who dislike the Ugly Sisters, though. Particularly when they both lose on the same day. Err... Sorry.

Oh, I don't follow it, but when local Michigan State University is in the basketball tournament, I will watch sometimes. The NCAA tourney is underway, and tonight MSU played Duke. Two very high profile programs facing off. DUke won by 10 points. Now I can go back to not watching.

A few days ago the women's tournament MSU team was beaten by Maryland U.

SO much for us...

Did better than us. Both South Dakota State's Men's and Women's teams bowed out the first round of the tournaments.

And, Michigan's still in it.

Well we don't want THEM to win... Although UM hasn't been as high profile in recent years.

What a weekend that was! 4-1 win in the Glasgow Derby, Vale back to his best in the MotoGP and the best Paris - Roubaix in a decade, even though our man came second.

Hertha 3 - 0 Braunschweig (currently holding 2nd place), marking Hertha for promotion into the Bundesliga.

Dortmund 3 - 2 Málaga, with two Dortmund goals in overtime, handing Dortmund a 3-2 aggregate victory and opening the chance of two German teams entering the semis of the Champions League for the very first time. We'll see about this tomorrow when Bayern face Old Lady Juve.

Juventus Turin 0 - 2 Bayern München

Taht was a nice, matter-of-fact victory. Maybe one or two dangerous scenes for them - otherwise, no doubt at all who would win this.

Aaaand

Bayern Munich 4 - 0 CF Barcelona, in the first of two semifinals of the UEFA Champions League.

This time, it was truly a noche mágica, as the Spaniards would have called it. Great, irresistable play, and no, it didn't matter that two of the four goals shouldn't were irregular (1 offside, 1 assisted by a foul). They trounced the absolutely dominant team of the last years, and my money is on them winning the Cup this year.l

That, too.

In other news,
BV Borussia Dortmund 4 - 1 Real Madrid

In a match every bit as exciting and magic as yesterday's. Colour me impressed with our two German top clubs.

Not a good day for Spanish football, though :D :-D

The first thing Jürgen Klopp said after the match was that Real has been known to produce high scoring victories at home, so I don't think anyone in Dortmundis under any illsusion that the match in Madrid will be extremely tough and difficult.

José Mourinho, meanwhile, prepared for his leaving Madrid when he said on television that his team had been prepared optimally, that only a few individual errors had caused the defeat and he couldn't understand how his players could have produced them.

Ah the happy sound of blame being aportioned!

Don't forget Dortmund drew 2-2 in Madrid in the Group stages, they are still favourites for it.

I'd be astonished if either of the German teams don't survive the 2nd leg. Having said that, I have been astonished before...

Exactly my take on it. Just like before the first leg, I see Bayern in the stronger position as they didn'T concede an away goal and just extremely strong and stable - qualities you need against magicians like Barca.

If I may utter words I'd possibly have to eat later: I don't think it really matters who loses the final against Bayern.

I think both German sides will go through, with the caveat that Real have an easier task to come back. Bayern should win the whole thing.

You are already half right :D :-D

Real Madrid 2 - 0 BV Borussia Dortmund 09; Borussia win 4 - 3 on aggregate and reach the Final in London.

Again, I watched it via a crappy livestream which made me miss the first goal. It was an exceptional match. great compliments to both teams, although I think the axe is not a weapon worthy of Real Madrid.

[Scottish Special Interest]Derek Adams, the manager of my beloved Ross County Football Club just popped in to my office and sat chatting to me for 10 minutes. I felt like a wee schoolboy![/Scottish Special Interest]

Reminds me of an old friend from med school who opened a private surgery in his native town. After he got off to a good start with one funtionary of the local football club (then third league, since promoted) he ended up treating the stress ulcers and doing the cancer prevention colonoscopies for most of the club's employees.

Needless to say, he gets nice seats for the home games and mightily impresses his three chrildren, all avid fans, with his clout.

Oh, need I say it? Go, Bayern!
