South Africa 23 - 12 Australia, final.

Crucially, South Africa fail to get the bonus point, which means New Zealand can end the tournament in a few hours by winning against Argentina, with or without the bonus point.

I am having a rather difficult time finding anyone who is airing it here, which is a bit odd, as it is the more important match.

Yeah, even for an ignoramus like me, that sounds like a done deal.

Hey-ho County!!

BTW, of the three teams that could have overtaken us (and Bayern), only Dortmund won, in grand style against Leverkusen, so it's
1 Dortmund 14
2 Bayern 13
3 Hertha 13
4 Mönchengladbach 11

Can we sa that's it, distribute the trophies, and look forward to next yerar's CL please?

Also, just checked, the two teams drew in 1985, but Argentina have never won.

A draw means only South Africa can stop New Zealand. A win (for New Zealand) means no one can. A win (for Argentina) means South Africa can still win, and Argentina possibly can also, depending on how the bonus points fall.

Dynamo Dresden 0 -1 SpVgg Greuther Fürth

That's a promotion place for us! I stick with my suggestion from yesterday.

Played 50, won 28, drawn 14, lost 8.

Rangers 3-1 Rapid Vienna

We have definitely entered some parallel universe.

Back on shore now, having learned nautical terms like “reefing a felching quilt”, “Sweating the banjo” and “Mojito? Don’t mind if I do”.

PLayed 51, won 29, drawn 14 and lost 8.

What, we were THAT good? Or did you look at 2016?

Big fat ugly and uninspiring draws from this side of the North Sea:

FSV Mainz 05 0 - 0 Hertha BSC, Hertha returning to her usual boring self, And Mainz not snappy enough to punish us.

SpVgg Greuther Fürth 1 - 1 Jahn Regensburg, which is OK. Jahn was the team that won five nil in Hamburg, so we are a lot better than the Champions' Champion of 1984.

Played 54, won 30, drawn 16 and lost 8.

Ah, here it is: October 08, 2017

Arneb wrote:Germany 5 - 1 Azerbaijan
Slovenia 2 - 2 Scotland. Aw shucks. NoIRU festival in Russia next year.

Played 53, won 23 drawn 11, lost 19.

We were still on a positive balance, yes, but that was when our boys were still winning games in the World Cup qualifiers. It was downhill fast from there.

Your figure was indeed in 2016, when we ended up winning twice as many games as losing, due to Rangers coming second, Hertha scraping into Europe, County managing to get promoted and two international titles for two German national teams (Under 21 European Champions and Confederations Cup winners). Boy that'll be hard to repeat.
Arneb wrote:Shellack 0 - 2 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Shall we take it into our count, just for giggles? Like,

Played 52 Won 27 Drawn 11 Lost 14

On 21 October, 2016. Sigh.

Rioja is an excellent reason to mix up years in a thread that, in the great scheme of things, is probably not too important.

Let's say we blow ourselves up here in the RFGW (Really Fucking Great War), and some techie archeologist some genereations down the road manages too reccover this board from the ruins of a server farm. What must they think of us.

That's what everyone's saying, and i'm sure it's all fake news. TPTB apparently have in interest in making it look like Bayern are on a bad stretch, but coun't on my Hertha, they will correct this pretty soon.

That gives it that extra bit of hehe, doesn't it?

Meanwhile, Deä Glubb lost six love away to Lepizig, so Hertha fell back to 5th, but still ahead of Bayern. There are four teams behind the leaders, Dortmund (17), now that have 14 pts., of which we have (of course) the worst goal balance: Leipzig, Mönchengladbach, Bremen and Hertha. Bayern are struggling for a place in the Euro League with a meager 13 pts. from 7 games.

Next, international football: Germany away to the Netherlands and then France in that whaddayacallit Nations League. Good opportunity to bring the count back to the ususal level...

Not often that I look at this thread given that England is generally shite and, unlike many, I don't support any domestic team. But I like Arneb's comment - what would future generations think of this thread? Well, entire papers would be written on "early 21st century culture" - and hey, when you think of what else they might find on a revived server farm ...
