Hannover 96 1 - 1 SpVgg Greuther Fürth

That is Not Bad At All for us against a Bundesliga relegee and promotion favourite with deep pockets and an interesting new coach.

Played 23, won 16, drawn 4, lost 3.

I'm sitting here watching the worst RCC performance I've ever seen. 3-0 down after 25 mins.

I hope at least the hospitality was nice... :(

For consolation, Union made their first Bundesliga point today. They were away to Augsburg, who are also earmarked for relegation. So, important point, direct competitor etc. Hertha at home to Wolfsburg tomorrow. We've won against them occasionally, but I foggily remember cruel spankings, too.

Jesus, that’s bad.

St Mirren 0 - 1 Rangers. We were unconvincing and they could (should?) have equalised in extra time.

Played 25, won 17, drawn 4 lost 4.

Meanwhile in the English league Bury have gone bust and been thrown out, with Bolton looking likely to follow. While I have sympathy for the supporters they were happy to mortgage the future for wins now. In Bury's case they won promotion last year with a team they couldn't afford, someone else lost out by operating within their budget. I suspect more will follow.

Operating within a budget is so 20th century. Get yourself a sheikh, or an oligarch, and all will be shiny.

First Old Firm match of the season at the weekend, I'm getting nervous already. I'd almost forgotten we have the home leg against Slavo Sportisgrad tomorrow. Again, not confident as we have to win.

Spotted on Twitter:
It’s Bury’s misfortune they didn’t play under the @ScottishFA where liquidation holds no fear, as any newco can buy a liquidated club’s assets then claim to be the *exact same club*, debt-free, of course.

ETA - that’s not a dig at you, of course, just something I found funny.

Gah, why am I so worried about tonight's game? Apart from the obvious. We should win it, maybe that is the problem.

Goal-less until the 91st minute when we’ve nicked one so as it stands we’re through. Unless we give away a stupid equaliser in the dying minutes . . .

Edit for clarity.

Two hours to the draw for the group stages, I suspect we won't get more than a win and a pair of draws regardless of who we get.

Wow: We score a second own goal shortly after the break. That kind of fuckuppery is unusual even for us.

Two own goals? That is just being a bit too helpful. We play Celtic tomorrow, and last night there was a sectarian riot in Glasgow. Oh well . . .

For completeness,
FC Schalke 04 3 - 0 Hertha BS fucking C

Played 29 won 18, drawn 5, lost 6

Hertha in the relegation spot, but could go down to 17th if Bremen don't lose tomorrow
