It's Lianachan's lot v Heid's lot at footing the ball again this weekend. Who will win? Heid's lot.

Greuther Fürth 0 - 0 SV Holstein Kiel

Generally, you don't avoif relegation by not scoring, but it was against a third-placed promotion candidate, so not too bad. Not having lost two games in a row (and without conceding a goal, mind you!) is probably a season record for us, too.

Still goalless at Bremen, could be two draws from ‘schland. There are still 38 minutes to go and it is still Hertha . . .

.., which means we should probably be glad there wasn't a late decider for Bremen. Boring, but it's an away point. 14 to go to Magical 40 .

SV Werder Bremen 0 - 0 Hertha BSC

30 minutes in and RCC could be three down rather than only one. I suspect our man Lianachan will be drowning his sorrows later.

Ross County 1 - 2 I Can’t Believe It’s Not Rangers

By all accounts, we were fucking awful. Also by all accounts, we should have had a stonewall penalty at 0-1.

Played 116 Won 43 Drawn 27 Lost 46.

On the other hand, the word on the street is that the pentalty we did get shouldn’t have been given. No net improvement to our tally on the board though, as a win and a loss.

I haven’t seen either penalty but the live feed I was following didn’t make anything of the one that wasn’t given.

Ah, the non-penalty was later than I thought. Either they were both penalties or neither was, and I'd say neither. If those are penalties then the game will revert to the schoolboy tactic of getting into the box and flicking the ball up against an opponents hand.

Having seen the highlights now, I'd say the first one that wasn't given should have been, and the one that was given shouldn't have been. Maybe the ref thought two wrongs make a right, or something.

I knew it was 0 and 3 with five minutes to go and them down to ten men, I hadn't checked that that was the final score.

Worst season I can remember. We’re going to lose again today and, eventually, get relegated.

I saw a bit of the superbowl in the small hours of this morning. I thought it must be half-time when I turned over to it, as there were pundits talking and no sign of a game, but it turns out there was a minute and a half to go before half time. I watched for somewhere between five and ten minutes. In the brief moments of actual play during that period, there was a touchdown, where the ball was not actually touched down (just caught). After my five or ten minutes, I couldn't stand any more and went to bed. There were still thirty-eight seconds of the half to play. Is the entire game like that? Literally a few seconds of actual play, followed by a much longer period of fuck all, rinse and repeat? If what I saw is typical, I don't know how anybody can stand it.

That's been my impression of Merkin football all along. When the matches came on public TV here, there were no commercials during the breaks, as this is forbidden for public TV stations after 8 p.m. So instead of commercials, you'd have coaches yelling into microphones, umpires making gestures, super slo-mos that would make the Hulk cringe and talking heads talking about the intense pressure and suspense of the situation. I'd swith programmes and check every 2 min or so if anything was under way, but mostly, it wasn't.
