And that’s the final.

Saffers join New Zealand in having three World Cup championships. Unlike New Zealand, they have never lost a final.

So six World Cup championships held by New Zealand and South Africa. Australia have two, and England have one. Everyone else have none.

Liked the hoodies, not a fan of the flares.

Ok result for County.

We have Hertz in the wee cup this afternoon.

Oh, and that was never a penalty.

Rare event: All four German Champions League Clubs scored victories this week, even Leverkusen and Leipzig. That's been a pretty rare sight since 2013.

From the fucking fuck files:
1. Henry Kissinger is still alive. I thought he died years ago.
2. wiki says: In his youth, Kissinger enjoyed playing soccer, and played for the youth wing of his favorite club, SpVgg Fürth, which was one of the nation's best clubs at the time.

He is an honorary member, and whenever he was able to, while he held high office, he had the Bundesliga and Fürth results cabled to him. Todays modernized stadium is still where it was when he was a boy, flunking private tuition and going "nüber afm Ronhof" instead.

Fürth used to be a city where many Jews lived - for historical reasons. Nürnberg was close, and it was an important economic center - but while the Holy Roman Empire existed, Jews weren't allowed to live there, as was the custom in most Free Cities of the Reich. So many of them settled in Fürth and did business from there. The Kissinger family (the city of Bad Kissingen is about 150 km to the North) lived there until the Nazis drove them out.

Hertha's new investor - you know, the dodgy one - has installed Jürgen Klinsmann as a member of the supervisory board. I really don't know what to make of this.

Klinsmann's father hailed from Eberswalde, I read, which is to the East of Berlin, not far from the Oder river. Although he settles in Suebia in the South-West, he always remained a fan, the poor soul. Apparently, Jürgen has been a Hertha member for all his life. Oh I'll be quiet, nothing can go wrong.
