How to Piss Off GLP

Postby Lance » Wed Aug 03, 2005 2:09 pm

Believe it or not, I actually discovered the existance of a rule on GLP. And I apparently broke it. I posted a message inviting the users there to come visit us here. It was titled (something like):

Calling all Free Thinkers, Truth Seekers, ... and other "Fringers"

and invited users to drop by here and help us get things hopping...

I found this in my GLP Inbox this morning:

^TrInItY^ on GLP wrote:To: Lying BABB Maggot™

DO NOT ADVERTISE YOUR FORUM ON THIS SITE

next time will be a ban

Of all the things you can do there, who would have thought that could get you banned?

Well, then, we'll just have to bend that rule, then.

How about I start a thread about how much smarter the Illuminati on this board are, etc?

=====================

I don't suppose ^TrInItY^ would devulge which rule you broke or where such a rule could be found on the site.

This is from the FAQ on GLP:
What You May Not Post

* For security reasons, posting personal information like addresses or phone numbers is strongly discouraged, even when such information is in the public domain.
* At no time will threats of any kind be tolerated.
* For security reasons, you may not include URL's or any markup languages (HTML) or script in a post.
* For security reasons, you may not upload pictures or images to be included in your posts.
* At no time will threats of any kind be tolerated.

So, really, which of these 'rules' did you violate?

Here is my first reply to ^TrInItY^:

To ^TrInItY^, I wrote:I didn´t know that was against the rules! (I didn´t know there _were_ rules).

Sorry.

But now, after reading your post MM Dandy, I am sending this as well:

To ^TrInItY^, I wrote:>>DO NOT ADVERTISE YOUR FORUM ON THIS SITE

>>next time will be a ban

^TrInItY^:

Here are the only posting guidelines I could find:

What You May Not Post

* For security reasons, posting personal information like addresses or phone numbers is strongly discouraged, even when such information is in the public domain.
* At no time will threats of any kind be tolerated.
* For security reasons, you may not include URL's or any markup languages (HTML) or script in a post.

Either _show me where_ I broke the rules or REINSTATE MY MESSAGE and do not threaten me with banning again.

Well, ^TrInItY^ read my reply close to an hour ago...

He has ignored me. What a shock.

Just now, I wrote:>>DO NOT ADVERTISE YOUR FORUM ON THIS SITE

^TrInItY^, I'm serious. Show me where I broke a rule. Where is it stated that I can't post a link to my site?

I'm not trying to compete with you. Heck, I couldn't exist WITHOUT you.

I have a link _to_ GLP on my main page. What's wrong with me posting a link _here_ back to my site?

Well yeah, there's that...

But I mean pissing the owners off enough to threaten banning.

Some of the posters seemed to have taken offense to being called "Free Thinkers." I don't know why, they just did.

I guess they're more used to being called "morons". So much for trying to be nice.

Any idea how long the thread got before it was killed?

Did they forward your IP address to the "proper authorities" for future prosecution in the upcoming war crimes tribunal for Illuminati Dark Wankers?

I guess Trinity likes to keep GLP the way it is..pseudo morons crawling over each other in a dark cave.

And is that BANN for life or what Lance?

I don't know -- I guess I'd better lay low for a while  .

So, how does forwarding IP's to the proper authorities solve anything if the authorities are the ones behind the whole thing? If they're not directly responsible, than the 'super-government' is, and wouldn't they be able to control what the authorities do?

IDWology.

To be honost, however, I suppose that had a similar situation occurred here, the results may have been the same. That situation being if one member was given a warning (however, I'd like to think that warnings here would have warrant), and another member which likely knew about the warning violated the same rule, we'd probably ban him, too. Just to let you know, I have no problem with my being banned, the problem I have is that this whole thing started over an unwritten rule.
