Northside versus Southside of Chicago: money and crime rate are the two biggest differences I can think of! It's nicer and safer on the Northside.

Most of the colleges and universities have locations spread around the Northside of Chicago suburbs.

DePaul, DeVry, Lake Forrest, Loyola, Moody Bible, National-Lewis, North Park, Northeastern, Roosevelt, and University of Illinois can be found in the above link. I just graduated from DeVry - tuition runs 25K per year.
