Surviving the Crash

Postby Candy » Sat Aug 06, 2005 9:49 pm

Focuses on the people inside a crashing airliner; immediate aftermath and it's effect on witnesses and rescue workers.

It's a program on A&E right now. I missed the first 45 minutes. These are some pretty incredible stories of survival.

I watched a program where they had this "expert" talking about surviving a plane crash.

The gist of his talk was .... Fuck Everyone To Get Out

This is a little different. The survivors are talking about how they still have horrible nightmares. They wonder why they survived, and the lady sitting next to them died. It's very sad.

They are now at the point where recovery specialist were organized after USAir flight crashed in September 8, 1994.

The families of the deceased were extremely upset on how they were treated by the airline. They formed an alliance for future incidents.

I'm debating joining our Recovery Team. We have 4000 volunteers that assist families during their time for grieving. I just don't know if I could handle the emotional confrontations, though.

That can be a very hard job since it's natural to blame whoever reps the airline that killed their loved one.

The program kept showing over and over from several surviving passengers and family members that they just wanted the Airline's to apologize, regardless of who was to blame for the incident. The main focus was the way the airline handles customers after the crash.

The recovery teams are new to the airlines, perhaps within the last 10 years. I didn't catch the 'law' signed by President Clinton. The 'law' was sought after by a group of family members wanting better treatment for their loss of loved ones. The family wanted any personal affects. The family members wanted to visit the crash sight.

The show was very touching to say the least.

I told a co-worker about the show I saw. Jim has worked for the company for almost 20 years. He said United has always been good at keeping the families informed.

He went on to add about UA232 in Souix City. The link is a transcript. Jim said one of the passengers was unaccounted for after the incident. The passenger apparently left the scene and went to a bar. He was found later (not sure of his demeanor). :?
