Lump Found!

Postby Candy » Sun Aug 07, 2005 1:31 pm

Okay, this is serious. Last night, while at work, I felt a pain under my right armpit. Being curious, I started touching it. It feels like a big lump. I just don't see how it could pop-up overnight, but it has. I'm calling the doctor tomorrow. Wish me luck! 8-[

Oh man! Good luck.

I would tend to think that coming up so quickly and being tender to the touch means it's more likely a benign, fluid-filled cyst. Is it near the surface? Is the pain from pressure? Is the skin red?

Yes! I looked at it the mirror at work. It was red. I told my co-worker, Jim, it is probably a boil or something. I better get it checked out anyway.

Breast Cancer isn't something that runs in my family, so I'm hoping it is just something caused from the heat. :?

Boil = benign, fluid-filled cyst

Good.

But yes, get it checked out. A boil can be quite painful.

Jim made jokes. It was all in fun, though. I said make fun of me when I return with no hair. Wow, the non-insight I have with co-workers. I'm a bad girl.

I've had a couple of things like that during the heat of summer. Probably nothing to worry about.

Then again could be an alien implant, do you have any missing time? :P

To come up that fast sounds like a blocked sweat gland or something. I'll pray for the best just in case.

I agree with Lance,
A cyst nothing to worry about.

Then again to be on the safe side I'd suggest a complete breast exam.
I volunteer my services in that regard

I think the consensus view is probably right, it is nothing serious, but best to be safe and check it out. You'll let us know, of course...

Sounds like nothing too serious but for your own peace of mind get it checked out. Unexplained lumps can be pretty scary so the sooner you know what it is you can deal with it. Worst thing you can do is ignore it and hope it goes away. Even a simple boil can be damned painfull under the arm and antibiotics will usually help clear it up.

So what was the outcome of this, anyway?

It went away. It hurt for almost 24 hours, and then poof. I'll have it checked during my next 'female' physical.

Can you get a cold in a gland? I have a weird immune system. Instead of getting an actual cold, I get swollen glands usually in my throat. Perhaps, it moved lower this time. :?
