European Parliamentary elections

Postby Heid the Ba » Tue May 26, 2009 12:30 pm

These are up soon, I am registered for a postal vote; this was part of a protest against the ease of doing so as these are very easily forged. I ocassionally spoil my paper and return it simply because I can.

The bumf arrived today, I have a declaration, two envelopes and not very clear instructions. I have managed to screw this up before and I suspect I was one of the many unintentionally spoiled papers at the last Hollyrood election.

There are a slightly disappointing array of parties:

BNP - rightwing anti-immigrant etc. I haven't seen them campaining here before. They should do badly.

Christian Party - no idea, probably self explanatory. Unlikely to get anyone elected.

Conservative Party - enough said. Probably come fourth.

Jury Team - no idea at all.

LibDems - wouldn't vote for them but at least I know who they are. Possible second place.

No2EU:Yes to Democracy - I'm guessing anti-europe. Tommy Sheridan is one of their candidates apparently.

Scottish Green Party - decent folk who do a reasonable job in parliament.

SNP - our government. Likely winners.

Scottish Socialist Party - see below

Socialist Labour Party - this quickly turns into a Monty Python sketch.

The Labour Party - Broon's lot, will get their arses handed to them.

UKIP - another anti-europe lot.

Duncan Robertson - an independent. No idea.

No Monster Raving Looney, no Miss GB, Fur Play or any other nutters.

I think this is a PR, minimum requirement job. I really should know this.

ETA: Yep, I screwed it up, I detached something I shouldn't have. I have sent it all away regardless.

The UK voting. Labour took a kicking and a whole bunch of eurosceptics were elected. In Scotland it was 2 SNP, 2 Labour, 1 Tory and a LibDem.
