Damn you Trojan!

So I got a virus. An really, really nasty one. It's controlling my ability to scan my computer for it. I can't download (and if I can it locks me out of starting the program by removing my permission to use it), or even use an online scanner to detect it...the only thing that has shown it to date was CounterSpy which was installed before this happened. It showed it, and when I went to remove it CounterSpy actually froze, and a window popped up saying "the service controller returned no service, you may be running a scheduled update.", and now even that is locked out. It did identify it as a trojan.win32.agent, which is only like one of 2,000 viruses.

So I'm fucked. Even Windows Live Messenger has been locked out, saying the "live communications platform has stopped working". It even eliminated my ability to use the recovery tool to go back to some other date...gone, disabled. WTF?

I'm so pissed. :(

Visit: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofi ... e-combofix

Download ComboFix from here: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

Reboot into Safe mode.

Run ComboFix.

Wait...

Keep waitiing...

After it reboots and finishes cleaning, you should be able to go download Malware Bytes Anti Malware from here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

That will finish the clean up job.

I have cleaned dozens of these this way.

When attempting to open ComboFix;

In safe mode?

Download it on a different PC and then run it from a flash drive.

Yep. Tried it without it too. I systematically closed every process I could without shutting the computer down, and it still wouldn't run. This virus is a nasty bitch.

Download it on a different PC and then run it from a flash drive.

I might have too, the other computer is my problem. Maybe I can use my old computer I have in St. Petersberg to download it when I get a chance to get over there.

I've kept the same collection for the last 6 months, sorry hun, ain't that.

Newest symptom: The tumbnails for all of my pictures are gone. I can open pictures, but I can't see what they are before I do. Just the names with a blank spot over them.

Now that is strange...
