The Oregon Vortex

The Oregon Vortex
The Oregon Vortex is an area of naturally occurring visual and perceptual phenomena, which can be captured on film. No matter your education or profession you will find a challenge to all your accepted theories. Use the menu to the left to discover more.

The level platform shown here, located along the northern edge of the area, is the shortest platform used on the tour to demonstrate the change of height. This puts the two people in the demonstration very close to one another. This demonstration is also at one of the most pronounced areas within the vortex for this phenomena, making the change of height easier to see.

And it’s for sale! 8)

I've seen tourism brochures, etc., while traveling which describe such anomalous places, where things allegedly roll up hill, etc. There seem to be a lot of them. Never visted one, though...

These images are interesting too. It certainly looks to me like the right side of the platform is higher. Adding some guide lines in PhotoShop seems to confirm this.

Haven't done any measurement, but it looks the same way to me.

Also, I like this one:

However, it is important to note that whatever instrument you use to measure with while inside the affected area you will always measure to be the same height because the instrument of measurement will change in size right along with you.

Good think we have that potential source of confusion ruled out :)

If I'm going to go to Oregon, I think there are things I would rather see than this :-)

I do have some vague recollection of seeing a film at a very young age (probably in school) that demonstrated these types of effects (e.g., changing height) indoors. They also had one where two people were seated in chairs facing each other, tossing a ball back and forth. They both could throw a rather wicked curve ball. The background was very non-descript and poorly lit, so you couldn't tell that both chairs (and the camera) were on a rotating platform...

The show I caught had a broom that stands on end. I can't remember the location of the 'vortex', or find a photo from the website. The owner said the broom stands on end until there is an earthquake Anywhere, USA. She followed to say the broom standing has never lasted more than ~36 hours. I can't remember the exact details, I was sleepy.

Chicken? Chickens have feathers rather than hair, are rather small, and are distinctly non-human (not even half). So at least one of the descriptions applied to me at this board recently is necessarily inaccurate!

You don't scare me. I know you want to see this freak of nature thing, too. I've never heard of it before. I just happen to catch it between sleeps.

And it is grossly unfair. Hairy? I shave a minimum of three or four times a year.
