Couple of days early actually. Here you usually say day/month/year, and so I got confused about the month/day/year US nomenclature, even though I swore I wasn't confused about it when I posted it... dang! happens every time!

Oh well I guess its a commentary on date conventions in various cultures.

What else happened on 9/9?

I just did a google and this guy died on 9/9/76. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mao_Zedong

Apparently on 9/9/1956 this was the day that Elvis Presley appeared on Ed Sullivan's show Toast of the Town and 'scandalized audiences with his suggestive hip gyrations'.

On 9/9/1945 the second Sino-Japanese war, between China and Japan formally ended when 1,000,000 Japanese troops surrendered to China.

On the same day the first bug discovered in Computer Software Program when operators at the Harvard Faculty at the Computation Laboratory traced an error in the Mark II Computer to a moth trapped in a relay, coining the term bug. This bug was carefully removed and taped to the log book September 9th 1945. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:H96566k.jpg

And tubeswell decided that 9/11 was the 9 September 2011 on 9/9/11! LoL

My bachelorhood died on 11/9/2001 (or, 9/11/2001 according to the ROW).

So, [tubeswell], you had it right after all. ;)

Seriously? You were married on that day?

Wow. Sorry.

I hope it was a triumph of rebirth and love over destruction and hate.

9-9-11 was supposed to be my last day in the Air National Guard. But I decided to transfer to the AF Reserve. You all know what happened two days later.

If I have understood correctly, the wedding was on November 9.

Mactep is right, I was married on November 9th, 2001 (9 November, 2001 to the ROW). We briefly considered postponing when the attacks occurred, but decided that it would be sort of conceding to the fear and air of uncertainty. And besides, the invitations had already gone out. :)

In reality, we needn't have worried about it at all: the shock of the attacks had dissipated well before then. Everyday life here had returned to normal. No, for better or worse, it was a wonderful day (absolutely gorgeous weather for that time of year in this part of the world); everyone enjoyed themselves, and the attacks were hardly ever mentioned. A triumph? Perhaps so, but not any more so than any other wedding in those days.
