So on my daily constitutional walk, I went downtown to get my paper, then sat on the park bench on the corner across from the courthouse. I like to sit there reading my paper while the world goes by. At one point, an older lady walked by, smiled, and said it looked like a nice day to just sit and read. I told her I was trying to do my civic duty, I was sitting on the bench to make sure it didn't blow away. She smiled, wished me a nice day, and walked on.
A little while later, one of the inmates at the old folks home walked by with a young man, perhaps family. In fact it was Ruth, the lady who makes sure I am wearing pants. She says, "Hi Enzo, I see you are holding that bench down."
Now either the old coots were in cahoots, or it was quite a coincidence. But at least due to my diligence, the bench remains for another day.
