Geographically Challenged Businesses

Postby Lianachan » Wed Mar 22, 2017 12:57 pm

Me: Hi. I placed an order on Monday evening, but received an email (which cannot be replied to) today saying, with no explanation, that it had been cancelled. Why has the order been cancelled, and when will the payment be refunded? Thanks.

Company: We apologies greatly about this, I'm afraid that we aren't able to post to anywhere outside mainland U.K, and I believe that you live in the Scottish highlands. We've sent your refund, and it should be with you in the next few days. Apologies for any inconvenience.

I wonder if they'd ship it to Heid.

They can ram it up their arse - not interested in giving any business to folks like that.

About 125 miles as the crow flies, and yes.

I was more wondering if they thought Edinburgh was in a different place.

I'm sure you can get your porn DVDs from somewhere else anyway.

We met up a couple of years ago for a drink while Lianachan and his missus were in Edinburgh. The Memsahib unfortunately was in transit from Newcastle at the time so couldn't join us.

I've met MM Dandy and I think I recall St. Jimmy met Enzo and Wring. Do we have any other meetings?

I flew over Aachen when it was Arnebburg so we have been within 36,000 feet (or more realistically about 10-15 miles) but haven't met.

I've been in Singapore at the same time as Mactep, and we'd exchanged messages about possibly meeting up - which we never did. The messages were well in advance, and by the time I was there we'd both forgotten.

Hopefully, neither the Scottish Highlands nor Edinburgh will be part of the UK mainland in the near future.

Mactep and I have occupied the same places but not at the same time. I believe he's also been within 20ish miles of me while travelling through Chicago.

Was it a US company? If so, it might not necessarily be the company's fault - it might be USPS. I recall that when trying to send that Flat Susan postcard to Scotland, USPS listed Great Britain (which, admittedly, should include Scotland), but not the UK.

An English company. Should know better, really.
