It's alarming

Postby wring » Mon May 22, 2017 6:28 pm

We live in an old folks home. So, the knobs on the doors are latches (long flat things that can be engaged by pushing on the top vs. grasping and turning), the shower is a step in, smoke detectors near kitchen and in bedroom. And pull cords in the bathroom and bedroom (long strings attached to an alarm which when pulled alerts the staff that some one has 'fallen and can't get up'.) Since we have cats, we tape those suckers up high, have to remove the tape for inspections, retape afterward.

Today, at 8 freaking 13 am, a knock comes to our door, Enzo answers it (after donning pants, thankfully), it's the maintenance guy, our alarm had sounded. We look and sure enough the bedroom one has a loop that's dangling.

Dumb cat.

Maybe duct tape.

Yes, early morning, insistent loud knocking at my door. "Coming" I shout. I hear, "Are you OK in there???"

WTF?

Open the door to find Tom the building maintenance guy. "Are you all right?" Yeah, why wouldn't I be?

Sure enough, the cats had managed to free enough string from the tape on our pull cords, and were able to pull the alarm.
