A long time ago, there was a cartoon in the New Yorker. Some well dressed gentleman in an overcoat, the typical cartoon captain of industry type, is walking past a Rolls Royce with a "4 SALE" sign in the window. He says to the owner, "You ought to be shot."

I found it amusing.

Now I just read in the paper that Ferrari plans to make a crossover SUV.

Really? I recently saw a Porsche SUV and thought that was bad enough. I was wrong.

They have been making Cayennes for fifteen years, there might not be many round your way but they have been an abomination in Europe for years.

The Cayenne, of course, IS bad enough, and worse.

I think the newer Cayenne models are pretty good, although they still look awful, but when it first came out it was a shit Porsche and a shit 4x4. Only reason anybody ever bought one was to go "look at me! I have a Porsche!".

Years ago I had a friend who was a Porsche salesman at the local dealer. I told him if he really wanted to make money around here, they needed to make a Porsche pickup truck. he told me he would pass the idea along to the management.


Quite some time ago, I found myself behind some small Mercedes mom-car. I had never seen one. I thought to myself, "I see Benz has invented the Datsun."
