Tour of Italy

Local store has a big display of imported Italian foods. They did it last year and had a TON of leftover products. Well, they did it again this year, and gee, lots of unsold stuff. $8 bags of dried pasta, $9 jars of marinara. Pricey cookies.

This time though, when the sale was over, they just went right to clearance prices. $9 marinara was $2. The pasta was a buck and a half. Half liters of nice EV olive oil were $2.50 Some nice balsamic for a buck. I loaded up on oil and some interesting onion chutney for a dollar.

For some reason, all the various olive oils were in very tall, very narrow bottles. Just the sort of thing to knock over easily. I'd prefer a fat bottomed shorter bottle myself...like my women. These bottles are too tall for my cupboard shelves.

Across the store was also the clearance of Valentine day stuff, but at 90% off not much was left but conversation hearts candy and fuzzy dice with hearts on them. I did find some nice chocolate in a heart shaped box for a dollar, but otherwise a losing cause.

But I think I was a winner in Italy.

Good old Mr. Angel Hair. When he was younger he wanted to marry Nara but his friend Al Fredo wouldn't allow it. Al knew Wring was the better Trofie. She really seemed to excite his Penne. She was a little Pici but he was no Fagottini so he persisted. They eventually got together and she turned out to be a real Gemelli.

Except the whole night of the prom, she was griping about having a ziti.
