It wisnae me!

The Law Society has decreed that the next hoop we have to jump through for no good reason is augmented ID checks. So I now have a certificate to say that as of 13th June 2018 I have not been caught kiddie fiddling. You would think that the professional body regulating lawyers would keep an eye on these things but apparently not. At no point in my professional life have I ever dealt with children, alone or accompanied by their parents or guardians. I do sometimes deal with vulnerable adults, but as far as I can tell the certificate I have doesn't relate to that.

Do they make a distinction between "kiddie fiddling" and "caught kiddie fiddling"?

I simply states that I have no convictions for it, so you have to draw your own conclusions.

Wouldn't a criminal conviction get you disbarred anyway?

It might prevent me being a partner in the firm, depending on what it is for but a conviction wouldn't automatically disbar me.

What if you do it in your free time, not related to work.

They don’t seem to distinguish between professional and recreational kiddie fiddling.
