Problem with emoticon

Problem with emoticon

Postby Мастер » Tue Dec 19, 2006 9:11 am

I tried to put the wagging finger emoticon in here, but it didn't work. . .

What happened when you tried?

Does it look different when you see it? (I wouldn't have thought this would be machine-dependent, but who knows.) I see no emoticon, then the following quote block begins with "] when it shouldn't.

Interesting... I see the emoticon just fine. You do mean you don't see it in this thread either, right?

How about everyone else? Let's get some other observations here so we can determine if the problem is on this end or yours.

I can see it fine in this thread, but not here. What I see there looks like this:

----Begin visual representation of what I see in another post----

Enzo wrote:It is that damn Ay-rab talk,

Enzo wrote:"]"]Can you still get Peking duck in Beijing?

Yes. And Peking University stuck with the old spelling.
----End visual representation of what I see in another post----

The wagging finger is supposed to be between two quote blocks. When I clicked "edit", it wasn't there, and there was only one "] in the second quote block. I tried to add another emoticon, and the result was the second "] in the second quote block. . .

Have you tried editing the post to correct it?

The smilies don't always go where you think they're going to go when you click on them.

Oh, so that's not just me? I thought that was a problem in FireFox or something.

I hate how when you add tags with a button it draws you up to the top of the page, and how smilies go to the bottom of the page...really annoying with long posts.

Just did another edit, it still doesn't work. Here is the text before I posted:

Code: Select all
It is that damn Ay-rab talk,
[-X
Can you still get Peking duck in Beijing?
Yes.  And Peking University stuck with the old spelling.

That's too weird. I'm trying the same edit and getting the same thing.

Okay, I fixed it. It's ugly, but it worked.

Just my guess, but I suspect that there is some error parsing the text at the time the post is made. . .
