Posting pictures

OK, how do I post a picture to be viewed by members here?

I am not a member of you tube, face book, twitter or whatever.

If the picture is already available on the web, you can do it as follows:

Code: Select all

However, if you hot link in this manner, you run the risk that the picture will disappear, its location will change, the host will find out about it and substitute something offensive, something like that. To avoid this, or if the picture is not already posted somewhere on the web, you can open a free account at photobucket.com. Post your pictures there, and it will give you a direct url to the picture. Then you can include that in place of <url> in the above command.

Thanks, Mactep, I know how to link to pictures on the web. I meant, personal pictures, as from a digital camera, stored on my hard drive.

I have these great ones, from all angles, from my summer at the nudist camp ... hello? Where did everyone go?

Photobucket, eh. I don't trust those sites. WHY do they allow free storage? What is in it for them? How do they make money??? Hmph.

I guess I don't really know. Maybe from advertising, maybe from harassing you into purchasing an enhanced membership with additional features. Not really sure.

They make their money from both of those things, Mactep.

What's to not trust? To sign up you give them about the same data you gave to sign up here - an email address. You can then upload images and link to them. The worst thing that can happen is they use your image for something.

SOme of the sites make money by selling prints to you if you like a photo. There is advertising revenue as well.

And Scott offered to help. so contact him at:

I use flickr. You can get a free account, which works perfectly fine for some people--there's a bandwidth limit, a number of pictures limit, and a number of albums limit, but it's more than adequate for most peoples' casual use. I have a flickr pro account, which is unlimited EVERYTHING, and boy do I use the hell out of it.
