Outage

Let me know if something is not working, or you think something could be made better.

Outage

Postby Arneb » Thu Jul 26, 2012 7:09 pm

The recent power outage is a good opportunity to say it oul loud in public:

Thanks, Lance, for this wonderful little place and all the work (and presumably, money) you put into it.

It may not be the bathroom stall wall of the world, butit's one hell of a nice place.

God, I missed IRU these two days Now I'll have to piece together all my chakras...again

Thanks Arneb!

We still seem to be having trouble on the DSL circuit that they can't figure out. A tech is coming tomorrow but until then you may notice slow speeds and brief outages.

Sorry about that. We'll get it back in shape as soon as we can.

Actually, during this visit, I found the performance to be quite what I am used to. Not bad at all. I can't comment about this morning, as my computer at work is the mother of all suck. It would slow down pure text e-mail if it had the chance.

The Mars Rover countdown is working for me again, but I hadn't been to the site for a wee while before the outage so it may have been back and unobserved (by me) before it.

Thank you for your dedication Lance. You'll be kept on.

I was concerned the Rover would get there before the countdown clock was restored. And if that happened, god help us all.

I miss you guys when you are gone, geez... Otherwise I am stuck talking to the wife.

Yeah, you have a good point.

Here's one you can use if we go down again:
Backup Mars Rover Curiosity Countdown Timer

But please note: The backup timer counts to the ERT landing time as it is currently set. It could change slightly. The clock here pulls the target time directly from the NASA server so if it changes it will be reflected in my clock.

The current landing estimate ERT is one minute after I start work on Monday, 6 August (15 min before my son's first day at school starts). I'll be behind my desk to nail-bite myself down the last minutes, and I will compare the clock to what happend, promise.

I'm having a wee bit of a "DSL' problem myself at the mo'. My two teenage boys used up all the broadband allowance in our household on silly on-lne gaming, and we don't get next months allowance until the 6th Aug. The Rover landing is going to be nail-biting dammit.
