PMs

Let me know if something is not working, or you think something could be made better.

PMs

Postby Мастер » Sun Sep 08, 2013 4:01 pm

Is there something about the "new messages" indicator which causes people to fail to notice that they have new messages?

I think it goes to zero when you see the directory listing of the message, not the message itself. Then there may be a tendency to forget about the message if one doesn't read it right away.

I have six messages in my outbox. Two of them have been there since 2010. One more recent (but still a few months old) is to a MMember who still seems active.

I don't know. 2010 is before the PM count mess up so you wouldn't think there would have been a problem then.

I'm pretty sure the message count persists until they are read but it could have been screwed up when I fixed that issue a few months ago.

You could always post: "Hey Member, please check your PMs.'

I just did some experiments - here is what happened.

There are two indicators which tell you your unread message count - one of them is at the top (mine currently says "0 new messages"), and the other is along the side when you're on the PM page (mine says "Inbox (2)"). The first one decrements when you view the title/sender/etc. information about the message in the directory listing - the second one decrements when you actually read the message.

But, regarding your suggestion - hey, MMember, read your PMs!

If, by MMember, we are referring to MMe...the newest message in my inbox is dated July 2nd (Central time), and I read and responded to it the following day. That response is currently in my Sent messages box, so I assume it has been received and read.

July 6, 2:35 PM. If this is local time, then it's probably 12:35 AM or 1:35 AM for you.

I couldn't find anything in my message folders with those date and times.

Edit: Perhaps the NSA could help us out at this point? :D :-D

They're already looking into it.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.

If you are seeing an apparent paradox, that means you are missing something.

I don't get it - What could there possibly be to resent?

I'm afraid I don't have it :(
My inbox isn't full, either - Folder is 62% full (31 from 50 messages stored).
