Autobot question

Autobot question

Postby Arneb » Sun Mar 12, 2017 8:57 am

I signed off at something like 1:30 h in the morning before going to bed last night. After that, Lance, tubes, and HD-FCD racked up 7 pages worth of countdown post via the autobot before it was sent to sleep. When I signed in, I only had three new posts on the front page. Is that by design? If yes, shrewd coding, boss :D !

The "New Posts" counts threads only. So each thread that has one or more new posts gets counted, but not the number of posts in the thread.

Example:
In your absence, the 1,000,000 thread is the only thread that gets posts.
One post is made.
New Posts will show 1.

In your absence, the 1,000,000 thread is the only thread that gets posts.
One hundred posts are made.
New Posts will show 1.

I find that even if I leave the autobot window open and walk away from my computer, it eventually goes into sleep mode and the autobot stops logging in. Is that something like what you're experiencing Dr Arneb?
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.

If you are seeing an apparent paradox, that means you are missing something.

No, no - My settings let me participate in the autobot number slaughter for hours on end. It's just that it shows only one new post afterward - the way Lance explained it :D Thx a lot!

It does that when I disable it. I enable and disable it manually. When I disable it, the next time it tries to refresh it will tell you that it's sleeping and not try to refresh anymore.

Any time!
