Did we lose a few posts?

Let me know if something is not working, or you think something could be made better.

Did we lose a few posts?

Postby Arneb » Mon May 08, 2017 7:17 pm

IRU was unavailable for me this whole day, the URL http://www.illuminati-r-us.com/forums returning only a white page with a fatal error.

I reported Fuerth's last defeat and complained about something or other, but it does not seem to be there. No big loss, but it's gone...
CIA attack?

Oh, and the avatars are gone, too...

Seems to be fine now
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.

If you are seeing an apparent paradox, that means you are missing something.

I seem to be missing the funkiest avatar in the universe. Also, I can't see Arneb's avatar. I can see Tubes' one, though.

I see your struttin' dude just fine, and Arneb's bloody angel as well.

I too found IRU offline for a while, but when it returned, all I faced was having to log in again.

Yes, the avatars are all back, but some posts seem to have fallen off the cliff of forgetfulness.

We were put on a new server. Apparently there were some glitches. I think it's working now but we may have lost some posts.

And everyone says the internet doesn't forget. How can it forget such gems like "960,260" or "Greuther Fürth 0 - 1 Karslruher Sport Club". Ach, the irreplaceable loss! :(

There are still some avatars I can't see. Thine and mine among them.

The debugger console shows a few 404 errors for some avatars and a reference error for whatever API 'Lytebox' is supposed to be in.

I'm seeing all the avatars, at least on this page.

Speaking of avatars, Heid, have you seen the character on 'Preacher' that seems to be inspired by your avatar?

Interesting. I wonder if traffic is diverted to different servers based on IP, then. Am I looking at a new server that's lost some data/files, while you are looking at a server that retained them, perhaps?

EDIT: Browser used doesn't seem to make any differences, either. I have the same results in Firefox v53.0 and Edge 38.14393.1066.0 on Windows 10.
EDIT, part II: Using a few Canadian proxies didn't seem to make any difference for me, either.

Hey, funny. I saw all avatars when posting from work (the "Ach" post"), nowe, at home, I only see tubes', Enzo's, Lance's and MMDandy's, while mine, Heid's and Lianachan's are missing. It's a strange old internet.

The only solution I know to any problem on a computer is: clear your cache. So does clearing your cookies make a difference?

IRU was unavailable to me all of yesterday. The spooky thing was that the browser treated it as non-existent, redirecting me to my ISP's search page and telling me I had probably mistpyed - even though the site turned up in a Google search.

Good to have you all back.

Yeah, it was screwed up at the host. It should be fine now. I missed you guys. Sorry about that.

The host didn't understand the problem they created. Oh well...

We got moved to another new server today. We were down briefly but we didn't lose any posts this time. It's funny how smoothly it can go if there is communication. The host did a good job this time.
