Nautical songs

Great song? Good show? Bad movie? What should be enjoyed and what should be avoided.

Nautical songs

Postby g-one » Thu Dec 07, 2023 4:27 am

Nautical, maritime, seafaring, I wasn't quite sure which to use in the title but this thread will be about those songs.
I've always maintained the truly great bands always have at least one such tune, and lesser ranked bands can punch above their weight by penning one.
I'll try to post all of them. ;)

Yes, I've posted it before but I'm a Stan. I'm stretching the definition a bit I accept.

Not a big fan of his, but I have friends who went south in '82 and it was their anthem (with slightly amended words).

Ha! I was hoping I wouldn't have to be the one to post the Rod (or the Christopher Cross). ;)

Can I ask that videos be embedded using the 'insert web video button' ? Youtube is so resource intensive and full of ads and other junk. It's nice to be able to view directly in the thread.

Youtube changed a couple of years ago so the Embed Video doesn't work anymore.

Though there is apparently still a way to do it if you're resourceful enough...

Okay, I think I fixed all your videos to embed properly. I created an new BBCode for EmbedYoutube. You will see it where the old [BBvideo] button was.

It will ONLY take YouTube videos. The only parameter required is the video ID. So the part in red:

Interesting, the embed feature has always worked for me.
I was using the video button, but using the URL given when you right click on a youtube video (while playing) and click 'copy URL'.

Really? It shouldn't have. I reenabled the old button. Can you please duplicate it?

Test

Doing it that way just gives me a big, blank area in the message. Do you see the actual video?

Yes thanks. I'm still curious as to why the old 'insert video' button is not working for you. I haven't tried your new one yet but the old still works for me?
Do you see the videos embedded in posts #1 and 5, and the one from Dec.9 I posted above?
