House M.D.

Great song? Good show? Bad movie? What should be enjoyed and what should be avoided.

House M.D.

Postby St. Jimmy » Tue May 23, 2006 10:52 pm

I can't believe that I haven't started this thread before. Today is the season finale of House M.D.

For those who have never watched the show

So, for those who have seen it: What do you think is gonna happen tonight?! The preveiws for tonights episode make it look like he's gonna kill his patient!!!! But the previews also showed that patient shooting House with a gun!!! Holy crap, tonight episode will be insane!

I've always thought the student center at Princeton U. looked like a hospital. Apparently someone else agrees...

Nobody can argue that.
BTW do you think House is going to date Cuddy? I am not sure, but it is leaning that way...

I have a hard time taking House seriously considering Hugh Laurie's past appearances on television.

He was in The Young Ones? Not as a major character. He was in Jeeves and Wooster, A Bit of Fry and Laurie etc.

Is his accent ok? Sounds fine to me but I don't know where he is supposed to be from, it just sounds like a generic US accent.

What? We don't have accents. You have accents.

What about New Joisey, southern drawl, or valley girl/boy? :P

Heck, even to me a neutral Amairakin accent sounds a little odd.

Last night's surreal juxtaposition:

An episode of "Jeeves and Wooster" from c1992 followed by the latest "House".

Boy does Hugh Lawrie look worse for wear nowadays; though Stephen Fry doesn't look any older. There must be a portrait in his attic.

I'm used to Stephen Fry from Blackadder, where he plays a much older character anyway :)

Picture of Stephen Fry :P

...I owned that movie for a while before I gave it to some kids whose house burnt down. (Awwww. I know.) I never noticed that it was him... Huh.

I discussed this with a Joisey girl in a sauna the other day and she thought Hugh Laurie's accent only slipped on a couple of words. Move along, nothing to see here . . .

It's true, he does "American" well. It's only occasionally he'll pronounce something in a way that's only slightly "off."

See, I don't recall ever seeing him in anything before House. He's brilliant in that. I'll have to look for some of that older stuff.

After that episode (which is the final episode of Blackadder II, set in Elizabethan times), he played George, the Stupid Prince of Wales, in Blackadder the Third, and George, the dim-witted aristocratic army officer in the trenches in the first world war, in Blackadder goes Forth.

I do recall watching a few Blackadder episodes many years ago. Not my china-container of suffused tea-leaves.

A Bit Of Laurie

Postby Halcyon Dayz, FCD » Mon Mar 03, 2008 7:07 pm

Britcom avalanche:

Hugh Laurie: The Human Punching Bag

Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Emma Thompson and Ben Elton v.
Adrian Edmondson, Rik Mayall, Nigel Planer, and Christopher Ryan
on University Challenge presented by Griff Rhys Jones.
The Young Ones - Bambi

Hugh Laurie as Shakespeare and Rowan Atkinson as his agent.
Bums on seats, Bill

Laurie the Rockstar

And for the girls: Romantic Laurie

The guy can act, sing, dance, write, direct, compose. and has published a bestseller (and slept with Emma Thompson).
And his father was an Olympic Gold medallist.

Damn his eyes.
