We saw this tonight and it is excellent. Fairly true to the book and the Alec Guiness series with one or two minor variations but the same low key tone. Gary Oldman is a revelation as Smiley.
It ends where the book ends so "Smiley's People" is certain to be filmed as a sequel.
The Christmas party scene (which includes a cameo by John Le Carre) is hilarious.
