Cheap SyFy movies

Great song? Good show? Bad movie? What should be enjoyed and what should be avoided.

Cheap SyFy movies

Postby Enzo » Wed Feb 25, 2015 8:42 am

Been watching a number of the SyFy-made movies lately. Most low budget and dumb.

I am now watching one called Infected, with actors I don't know chasing some bad guys who are somehow tied up with some sort of alien bugs infecting people.

But the odd thing to me is they managed to get Isabella Rossellini. At first I though, gee that woman looks like Isabella, then I realized it WAS Isabella.

She still has such an interesting face.

She's actually been in quite a lot of shite in the last couple of decades. I love terrible films, especially horror and sci-fi. Big fan of Mystery Science Theatre 3000.

I've not seen Infected so I'm not sure how much Isabella is in it and I'm not suggesting this is what's going on, but I recall a fine trait of terrible films which is described perfectly in the trivia section of IMDB's Planet Terror page:

The appearance of Bruce Willis in a minor role is a subtle nod to an old marketing trick often employed by Grindhouse makers. They would contract a big-name movie star to appear in their movie for one day, for a few frontal shots only, while the rest of the scenes were done with a double filmed from the back. A picture of the big star would then be placed prominently on the movie's poster in order to boost sales. (Example: Bruce Willis character of Lt. Muldoon is never in the same frame with the other lead and supporting actors indicating that all of his scenes were filmed separately.)

Anything from a company that produced Sharknado can't be all bad. We watch a lot of the SyFy produce movies these days. I always find them amusing.

Isabella was a substantial character, gets revealed to be a bad guy, and even sprouts long claw arms, eventually she is beheaded.
