That is a reasonable assessment, I think the answer for Germany is to split into the various regions/former countries so that Wurtemburg will always give Brandenberg 12 points etc.

I got home during the (y)UK entry, which if memory serves was the fifth song. So I missed the start, was knackered, and was far, far too sober - not a great combination for Eurovision. I just couldn't get into it this year. I'm not sure if it was the result of my sobriety, but everybody seemed to be taking it far too seriously this year. Nobody was dressed up as a monster, and nobody seemed to overtly take the piss. I'll try and get a better run at it next year.
