No D-Day movies today

Great song? Good show? Bad movie? What should be enjoyed and what should be avoided.

No D-Day movies today

Well, geez, how soon we forget. ANy other time, they'd have wall to wall "appropriate" movies.

Today, nary a one D-Day movie. No Longest Day, no Private Ryan, nuthin.

See my post in "This Day in History": If it's 71 years ago, it can't be important.

The played them all on Memorial Day. As a matter of fact, on channel, AMC maybe, played Saving Private Ryan back to back all day long. And there were lots of WWII and Korean War movies all weekend. A recorded a bunch of them and have just now finished up with them. Well, I still have M*A*S*H.

But yeah, I was surprised there was nothing at all yesterday. I was in the mood for a good Tora Tora Tora or something.

I'm not so sure it's because 71 is odd. It might be because it is prime.

I'm always primed for something odd.

Oh I can pretty much recite the dialog of Tora Tora Tora along with the movie. And Midway as well.

They never show Operation petticoat anymore, so I can't check in on seaman Hornsby.

They run WWI and WWII documentaries on Sky TV History Channel all year here. Most of them are re-runs. We still get ANZAC day movies and old war stuff on movie channels. Seen Task Force about 4 times recently.

Including the Japanese?

That was the one Deep Throat starred in, right?

I couldn't find "Seaman Hornsby" in the credits at IMDB. I eventually figured out why that is . . .

I didn't know there'd been a TV series of it, featuring Jamie Lee Curtis.

Well, I have little subtitle cards I can hold up. My accent is too Honshu, I just can't quite get Hokkaido right.
