Hunger

Great song? Good show? Bad movie? What should be enjoyed and what should be avoided.

Hunger

I know there have been several of them in the franchise, but I never saw any of the Hunger Games movies. Tonight it came on TV - the first one - so I watched part of it. I was flipping channels between it and something else. Seemed largely the Running Man with a hint of Logan's Run tossed in, and a dash of Truman Show. I was having a hard time relating to the first half, and didn't really get involved until the actual chase/game started. Early on they established the one character as the self important asshole, so just like the Jurassic Park movie where we go into it predicting who will get eaten. I was watching for them to set up the ultimate duel between him and Jennifer Lawrence. Like Running Man or any of the teen slasher movies, they picked off the rest of the group one by one.

It was a lot slower than I had assumed it would be, I expected more action. The trailers they show all look more active. Then they beat the bad guy and ultimately, she and her buddy win, and the thing just comes to an end. I felt like they just stopped making movie. I thought she'd go Spartacus on us and revolt, maybe that is for the sequels. I was half expecting her to put an arrow through Donald Sutherland too, but no soap.

I find the girl real watchable, got a good pout, and that cute little overbite.

No, I haven't seen Battle Royale. I did look up the movie after posting, and it was interesting to read all the various ideas of which movies it resembled to various critics. That one was a prominent example.
